My DD (12) has been invited to my neighbour's for a sleepover with her friend - but in the tent! Obviously they will wrap up/have sleeping bag etc but I have said no as I feel it's too cold to camp out!! Is due to drop to 0 degrees overnight! Am I BU? Don't want to spoil fun but just feel it's not the time to be camping out. Thx.

i agree tbh too cold , maybe they could arrange to do it in may/June ? are you sure your neighbours are not crazy

Morloth · 17/02/2010 09:55

In the backyard? Won't they just go inside the house if they get cold/uncomfortable?

whizzmum · 17/02/2010 09:59

yes, in the garden. Option to go inside!

At 12 she can probably figure out if she is too cold.

whizzmum · 17/02/2010 10:03

Yes, I realise that Morloth, but it's whether I say yes or no!!

I don't understand the problem.

YABU

Don't be such a softie, don't assume your daughter is one. They will be snug as a bug in a rug and have a great time. If they get cold they wil go inside. Am struggling to understand your concerns.

upahill · 17/02/2010 10:22

Speaking as someone who goes camping all year round in my single man tent I understand your concerns! It's been flippin hard work lately.
However you are talking about someones garden with an option to go in if it is cold.

Let her do it. It's hardly wild camping is it

Okay, thanks guys - I get the message! I suppose they can go inside if need be and it will be an adventure - suppose I just needed some reassurance that I wasn;t being irresponsible!! Good point, ImSo, just because I don't like the cold, shouldn';t assume my DD is the same! Thank you to everyone who responded.
