not unreasonable I remember years ago now seeing an old couple (they looked very old) holding hands and hugging on the train. I just kept hoping that would be me and my husband one day! Its now my mental image of older people!

When my grandparents were celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary, my grandad wrote a song for my grandmother. He asked me to sing it to her, and when I said that I was sure my grandmother would prefer him to sing it, he said....

"I just can't. Everytime I try, I start crying because I love her so much".

Just imagine, being so in love after 60 years together.

AW Littlefish thats so nice. It brought back a memory of my grandparents, would have both been in their 80s. Mu grandfather was sitting on the couch and my grandmother walked through the room, he turned round and said "isnt she beautiful". I have only been with my husband 10 years I really cant imagine how you must feel after 60.

We went past an elderly couple today who were laughing out loud at a horse who was drinking out of a trough and trying to splash them ( or that's how it seemed!). It was one of those moments when I wished I'd had a camera....they were holding hands and really laughing hard. DH and I had been having a minor disagreement but we both stopped and smiled. Their faces have stayed with me all day

My grandparents were married for 59 years before my papa died a couple of years ago. They still held hands everywhere they went and were very happy. When they stayed overnight at my nan's sisters and they were in single beds they pushed them together so they were closer together. I miss my papa loads, I sometimes can't imagine how my nan feels.
