Long story short, Dp had to have a knee op meaning we were on ESA for a while. He recovered, our benefits changed to JSA.

He has been working his ass off applying for jobs and getting interviews etc.

His prfession is a well paid position in IT with 99% of the jobs being contract work. These can be anywhere in the country. We are in the South West and he has had interviews in London, Bristol and Warrington. The job centre have paid travel expenses to get to these interviews. He has 2 more job interviews lined up. The Job Centre refuse to pay any more travel expenses.

They are saying that if he hasn't got a job from 3 interviews then he needs to work on his interview skills.

They don't seem to realise that this isn't your average shop job where you can go in a be trained up for the position. This is a job where you already need certain experience in a certain area. If he has 1 yr experience in Insurance and someone else has 3yrs then they will hire the one with 3 yrs experience.

So now he's had his limit of 3 interviews and they won't pay the expenses for any more.

He asked what he should do, They replied with "Well you are not the first person to live on benefits" But we don't want to live on benefits for christ sake.

I am more than happy to accept that IABU but I just needed to vent. Sorry.

Perhaps he should look at different kinds of jobs, he might have more success.
