God I am livid! old dirty stealing bastard old man! I hope he chokes on what ever he BUYS with my money!

I withdrew £10 from the cash point and when going to put in into my purse (still at cash point) I accidental dropped it, so moved ds1 pushchair out the way t bend down and collect it, and the old man picked it up and PUT IT IN HIS POCKET!

I said excuse me, but that £10 you just put in your pocket is mine, Ive just dropped it, he said what £10, he must have been about early 70ish!

Lady next to me, said I seen you also, now give the lady her money, he still refused, I showed him my bank receipt and said ITS MY money sir, he refused to speak to me, so I called over to the trolley attendants and asked for them to get the security guards, which they did, they came over and I explained the situation but still he refused, so I said I would call the police as he is stealing!, but security guards said it would be my word against his!

By this time it was 11.35 and I had to pick ds1 from Nursery at 11.50, so I told the fecking man I hoped he chocked on it, and that he was a disgrace to society!

I honestly wanted to throttle him, honestly I am so livid and cant believe their is people pout their like this!

Its so blatant human disregard for another own greed!

Well. your name is a little inappropriate today isn't it.

Cyb · 12/02/2010 12:47

I really hope you don't find a tenner in your buggy rain hood later......

Pikelit · 12/02/2010 12:48

I was going to say the same but thought my computer would be struck by lightning!

Pikelit · 12/02/2010 12:48

Sorry, message was @itsmeolord

GhoulsAreLoud · 12/02/2010 12:48

Two witnesses is not your word against his.

I would still report it but I'm bloody minded like that. They might have CCTV of him and the police might know who he is.

claw3 · 12/02/2010 12:49

Look at it as a donation to help the aged.

LazyJourno · 12/02/2010 12:50

How is it his word against yours when another woman saw him too?

I'd have complained to the supermarket manager because handled differently you'd have got your money back.

Don't they have cctv of the ATM?

Any way at some point you'll find that you referencing the man being old gets jumped on (this is AIBU so happens for the most tenuous of reasons at the best of times) so to save time:

The OP has mentioned he is old because we generally have a social concept of "elders and betters" and he has not lived up to that.

Yes, he may well have dementia of some kind.

No, I don't care what condition he is or how old he is. His behaviour is disgusting so like any bad behaviour should not be tolerated and the OP is right to be livid.

GhoulsAreLoud · 12/02/2010 12:52

Is a bawbag like a ballbag btw?

heymammy · 12/02/2010 12:58

Sorry OP, that's a really shitey thing to happen.

BUT

LMAO...I never thought I'd see the word 'bawbag' in a thread title.

GibbonInARibbon · 12/02/2010 13:00

I am in that anyone would have the front to do that! I don't blame you for being livid.

Pushmeinthepool · 12/02/2010 13:02

YANBU!

I would definitely to to the police. I think most ATM's have CCTV now, don't they?

LittleMrsHappy · 12/02/2010 13:07

bawbag means knob head and is one I use when I am angry, as I now live in England (am Scottish) and its a insult that English people dont know is a insult

The reason I mention old, is that he was old and for what Lazy Jorno said.

OAP go on and say the youth of day is a disgrace (which is right in a way by their own generation standards) but then I get something like this done to myself and I am

I will also refuse to see it as a "donation" to help the aged, if it were a teenager etc... it would be equally the same and is downright blatant disregard for another being!

I think he was fine also, he did not look confused, or even discrumpled that he was being question, he just point blank refused to accept the money was mine, or even acknowledged it.

And No the money is not in my pushchair, he picked it and and put it in his pocket!

BelleDameSansMerci · 12/02/2010 13:11

Definitely, definitely report to the police. And the Head Office of the Supermarket. You were treated badly by their security team.

LittleMrsHappy · 12/02/2010 13:11

Dh is coming home now (half day) and we are dropping the kids off at MIL and also going to Asda (cash point) and then go to the police.

Asda and the cash point has CCTV, Im not even bothered about the money now, its now the principle, he cannot expect to do something like this and get away with it.

The other lady gave the security guard her number, so will ask for that (witness) and go to the police with dh.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 12/02/2010 13:12

agree with labelledame.

BetsyLittleson · 12/02/2010 13:13

Just go to the police - it is their job to approach security. Security almost definitely won't give out the witness' details to you.

motherbeyond · 12/02/2010 13:15

that is shocking!!!i'm afraid i would have stood my ground and demanded the police attend immediately (would've rung nursery and asked them to keep hold of ds for a bit longer)...there's no fucking way i woud've let some scabby old twat walk off with MY hard earned fucking cash...i would've given him the heed op or told him tae bail his can!(my granny is fram glasgi )

brightspark2 · 12/02/2010 13:19

Please let us know what police say! And I would complain about the security guard's advice.

LittleMrsHappy · 12/02/2010 13:20

lol motherbeyond x

dh's here, so hes taking me straight to the police station.

Saltire · 12/02/2010 13:21

Am loving bawbag - it's not so common int eh South of Scotland but I have been known to use it on occasion. Along with Glaikit, another of my fave words

BigBadMummy · 12/02/2010 13:27

another idea to explore (agreeing with other suggestions of CCTV / Police / Supermarket manager etc).

Was he in the queue for the cashpoint?

IF you write to your bank they will be able to find the transaction on the ATM and check to see the next few and have a log of accounts accessed.

They can then find him that way?

Just a thought. What a complete knob.

Thank god it was not a £50 and your last.

But regardless of the amount I would be a livid as you are and being pursuing it on principle.

PuppyMonkey · 12/02/2010 13:40

This will end up on Police, Camera, Action or something if it did get captured on CCTV!! Cheeky bogger. I assume the reason the security guard was so wimpy is precisely because this was an old chap, not a hoody yoof.

juneybean · 12/02/2010 13:46

Kinell I'm shocked

crankytwanky · 12/02/2010 13:53

Bawbag indeed.

shivster1980 · 12/02/2010 13:54
