Is it just me or do other mums get so ridiculously tired that 8pm bed time is only way to survive sometimes???

Not just you at all ! I sometimes get so wiped out that I do that, not every night, but it is a saviour.

could you have an afternoon kip? half an hour or so usually wakes me up for later on

occassionally i put the boys down at 7pm and jump in bed myself.
never saw it as a crime.

if it wasn't for MN and Facebook I'd be in bed right now

I'd love to. When my DCs were younger I used to do that twice a week when DH was out. I'd get them all in to bed with me and read to them until DD and DS#2 dropped off and then put them in their own beds. Then DS#1 and I would go to sleep together. DH would move him later. Bliss!

DS#1's idea of bedtime is about 11 nowadays
