Smell (oh yes, they smell, dog owners who think their house doesn't smell of dog...ha)
Require you to pick up their still warm crap in a plastic bag whilst out walking at 7am in driving rain

Cats:
Purr
Keep you warm
Don't smell
Totally independent (and you can go away for a weekend and leave them without requiring to beg someone to have them or pay someone to have them)

At night my tabby treat slumbers fatly on my feet - better and cheaper than Uggs - and, come 7am, provides daylong cuddliness and amusement.

My dear little cat is more restful but just as entertaining as a small child. No shrieks and smells either.

dogs:

keep your house and family safe
sit on your lap quite happily
yes, they can smell, but i would rather my house smelt of dog than poo
are ALWAYS happy to see you.
are faithful.

cats:
scratch (even when they are happy)
bring dead animals into your house.
dont require you to pick up their crap... because they go into a neighbours garden and do it there. SOMEONE has to pick it up, its just not you.
they DO smell. as a cat owner you just dont smell it yourself.
have no loyalty.

Also my house has never smelt of poo, my cat is busy pooing in your garden, also because I have a cat, no cats poo in my garden therefore I have a life free from picking up poo (unlike dog owners)

Cats are just generally superior, yes not slavering and foolishly loyal (even to owners who mistreat them, no cat would put up with that) but independent and free thinking.

Cats are just cooler and less likely to eat your children.

ah, my dog is just the right size for my lap. its very comforting and rather than eat ds would guard us with his life. we give him love, affection, food, shelter.. he gives us unwavering loyalty and love. cats are sluts! will put out to anyone without any real feelings.

and the poo! i hate the poo! i hate the fact that i have to check the garden for turds before ds can play out there. i will berate dog owners who dont clean up after their dog (disgusting) but cat owners are (it seems) free from such duties. and if you have a litter tray there will be poo in it.

Having grown up with both cats and dogs. and having fostered dogs and cats I do like them both.

However - YABU - I now own a dog.

Cats are sick far too often for my liking... and they are bitey and scratchy at random moments...

Cats are shit. Like an errant DH, they come and they go as they please and they don't actually give a shit about those left behind worrying and fretting. They scratch and they have no loyalty. Other than when it suits them. And then they are only after something.

Dogs are great. They care, and they are loyal. They protect the family and they chase off the fucking cats.

We adore our cat - loving, cuddly, brilliant hunter, soft, warm, etc... We don't adore the mackerel tabby beautiful though it is who keeps breaking in and sleeping in the dining room and nicking "darling youngest son's" food though - dys needs to toughen up and guard his territory.

If you eat at a cat owners house, you must be aware that a cuts bum has likely sat on the food preparation area.

Cats smell. Their food pongs. Their poo stinks.

Why is it acceptable to get a domestic pet knowing it will be shitting in their neighbours garden?
