who were telling each it that it is a fact that the government buys drinks for alcoholics? Apparently, they just have to take their receipts for any drinks they have bought in somewhere and they get their money back. They looked at me as if I was a fool when I told them they were talking rubbish. Do people actually believe this sort of thing - obviously yes! I told my DH - a recovering alcoholic - who told his mates at AA and they all reckon they have missed out.

I was once told by some one in a dss office that he was waiting there to get his £10 daily allowance for his alcohol. Was he having me on? No mention of reciepts though, just an extra tenner.

Oh and Bil is sure that if you are black you get a council house and extra benifits.

Shiney - could he be referring to his dole money as 'alcohol allowance'? Or could there be some (enlightened) scheme whereby homeless street drinkers could collect their beneifit in small daily amounts, to prevent them drinking it all at once, or else having to keep a week's worth of cash in insecure circumstances?
