I really like it. I'm glad they've started doing it. It was weird doing grocery shopping there before - a bit Stepford wives if you see what I mean.

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 01/02/2010 20:25

It is really strange. I was in my M&S the other day and they were restocking with PG tips underneath their own brand teabags.

Oh no!

squeaver · 01/02/2010 20:31

Lol at Fine Fare.

In our M&S they're all together on their own stand in the corner, like the new kids at school, huddling together for companionship.

Francagoestohollywood · 01/02/2010 20:40

Perhaps they'll soon sit on the Buddy Bench to be befriended by M&S Carrot cake?

How dare they though !

hellymelly · 01/02/2010 20:43

My horrified friend went to the manager and walied "you are selling THE MONKEY TEA ! what is happening?"

harpsichordcarrier · 01/02/2010 20:44

lololol at Fine Fare
Shopper's Paradise

TheElephant · 01/02/2010 20:46

i tell you if i saw a fine fare or Twinings near dhs parents id not be suprised

scampi in a basket is consideered nouveau there

catwalker · 01/02/2010 20:46

They've been selling this stuff in M&S shops in the north east for at least 18 months. Wonder why they've taken so long to do it elsewhere?

FlyMeToDunoon · 01/02/2010 20:47

I know, I saw this today.
It isn't right!

FlorenceandtheWashingMachine · 01/02/2010 20:52

I worked at Fine Fare while I was doing my A levels. I looked so sexy in my mushy pea coloured uniform .

My wealthiest friend was a trolley boy at Fine Fare (long before the wealthy bit, of course). I am sure that he only keeps me around so that we can reminisce about those halcyon days.

YoMoJo · 01/02/2010 20:55

Noooooooo - What a sign of our hard times!

But neither is it right that the last 3 times I have been in M&S i have had sales assistants approach me on the shop floor to try & sell me their credit card! The first time was straight after Christmas & I was approached on all 3 floors!

LynetteScavo · 01/02/2010 20:59

My life I don't need this confusion.

They'll be selling other peoples clothes next.

ruddynorah · 01/02/2010 21:03

it was a trial in the north east, it's just been rolled out across the other stores. the idea is just to provide the big popular brands that shoppers would go elsewhere for such as proper coca cola, heinz ketchup etc.

onepieceoflollipop · 01/02/2010 21:07

Is it definitely in the "proper" M&S stores, not just the ones that are at garages/service stations etc?

woowa · 01/02/2010 21:07

catwalker they trialed it in the Northeast before deciding it worked so well here they would launch it everywhere else! I also thought they'd been doing it everywhere for ages but it was just lucky us!

ruddynorah · 01/02/2010 21:08

yes the proper stores

PDR · 01/02/2010 21:15

I didn't notice anything today in ours

kind of like the non-branded-ness of M&S food shopping tho TBH.

Very odd!
