You don't follow a comment about how nice it looks with 'to be truthful with you, your hair was a complete mess before'

There are some people in the world who don't seem to have any kind of tact! Though perhaps I am being Unreasonable to be remotely surprised given that the person who said it has spent the last 12 months, while growing my fringe out, telling me she thinks I look better with a fringe!

Hrmmph!

LOL

some times people can't help it, but slip in a backward comment pretending to be a compliment.

Im sure your hair looks lovely, and FWIW you don't suit a fring :D

I know someone like this... a good friend actually but she just doesn't think how some things sound before she says them and how offensive they can be. I'm sure if I ever picked her up on them she'd be mortified and apologetic but in the long run it's just not worth it!

So no, you are not being unreasonable but try not to take it to heart! At least she noticed you'd had your hair done which is more that my DH does (until he gets the credit card statement that is!)

Lol - I do have a fringe now though!!
I know my hair was looking stragly, and at my age a fringe hides a multitude of sins but really!

I must think of something equally bitchy to say about her jeggings

Ooh no YANBU that's a sting in the tail. On the other hand, no one, including DH, ever seems to notice when I get mine done. (Last week, as it happens).

DuelingFanjo · 01/02/2010 10:39

Arrrghhh - now she is telling everyone who comes in the office how scraggy it looked before. FFS!

YANBU lol. Afer my most recent haircut (just above my shoulder, about 2 inches off) my older, female boss with a crew cut said 'oh you've had your hair cut, women do get to an age when they can't carry off longer hair and should have it short, don't you agree?' I am 31 ffs!

isnowsoonenough · 01/02/2010 11:21

DuelingFanjo say out loud in the offcie that you can give her the name of your hairdessers as hers could do with sorting out

DuelingFanjo · 01/02/2010 11:26

thing is - we now both have similar haircuts! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

YANBU

Strangely some people seem to pride themselves on - as they see it - saying things straight. They think it's some sort of attractive trait.

'Oh, rude you mean..' I always think.

But I've also noticed they're often the most sensitive souls when it comes to their feelings

No idea whether it's deliberate or just thoughtless, but my MIL says 'oh that IS better' everytime I get my hair cut. Had to ask her though, to stop saying I looked tired.

My mum always criticizes my haircuts, always!!!

YANBU. Me, I'm totally aware of when my hair looks shite pre hairdresser, so I don't mind other people telling me so, they are right
