They asked about a non-uniform for Shelterbox after I showed them the MN links, they were told no. They asked about a bake sale and were told only if they organised it.

Yesterday we baked 175 mini buns and cookies, they decorated them kiddie style with icing and silver balls etc and publicised it from class to class.

They actually sold out, and raised £71.50 including the donations some brought in.

Some schools have a policy of only having a certain number of non-uniform days a year, which could be why. When we did Citizenship in year 11 we had to arrange something which helped the community and were told no non uniform days for this reason.

Fruitysunshine · 29/01/2010 18:53

I would be really proud if that were my boys!

enjoy the moment!

oh peachy that's fab. my son suggested a non-unofrom day at his 2ndary school for haiti. he was told: ''sorreh. We have a deal with Lepra to fund raise for them''

Leaflet came home today, it's a sodding sponsored thingy.
so we can't have non-uniform day as well????

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 29/01/2010 19:10

Congratulations to your boys.
What a lovely thing for them to have done.

madwomanintheattic · 29/01/2010 19:15

oh well done!
we had so many non-uniform days raising money for this and that at the last school i wondered why i had even bothered to buy uniform. bake sale sounds much better - and everyone got cake! sounds much more fun than another boring non-uniform day

(on a slightly diff note - was discussing non-uniform days with teaching staff on governing body... they all rolled their eyes and said it's impossible to get any work done when kids are in muftie, they all think they are on holiday instead of at school. so i felt all vindicated about my abhorrence at having to find yet another pair of clean non-jeans non-football outfits lol)

yay for the fabulous baker boys!
