My mother has this idea that the perfect pair of pants is out there somewhere, just waiting to be found.
If I mention that I have new underwear she immediately wants to know Where From, and Are They Comfy? All hers are wrong in some crucial aspect. This could probably be solved if she'd buy one size bigger but anyway...
Now, not content with searching the earth for her own Holy Grail of knickers she has started on DD(6). She buys DD pants and then phones me up to describe them and ask if I want them for her. Sometimes she even phones me from in the shop to talk about them. She requests that I send her a pair that fit so she can compare them in the shop, and when I say 'But Mum, DD has plenty of pants at the moment' she says things like You Can Never Have Too Many, and Children Grow Fast.
No matter how many times I explain that we do not need any more fecking knickers for DD she doesn't give up. 'But are they the right size?' 'Are they comfy' she will ask, weeks later.
Then, then, when she has DD to stay for the night, she rings in the morning to say accusingly, 'You didn't send her any clean knickers'. Well, keep a couple of pairs at your house then, I suggest. Oh no, she says, they wouldn't get the wear [arrrgghhh]
