Not to go to the consultation evening tonight?

My children's school is half an hour walk away. Their appointments for tonights consultation evening starts at 4.30pm.

This means I'm going to have to pick them up, walk home, go back at 4pm, walk home again, then DS has cubs at 6pm which is also near the school and then walk back again.

I'm absolutely knackered as it is through illness and from past experience, the consultation evening will consist of the teacher saying "he's doing fine, do you have any questions?" to which I say "no" and am then handed his targets for next term (which are always the same and obvious).

I can always just show my face in morning and ask the teachers if they have any concerns about them...?

No YANBU parents evenings/school reports are IME a complete waste of time at primary school where they put such a positive spin on everything and only tell you what they think you want to hear .
make an appointment to see the teacher directly after school on another day

It might be an idea to let them know that you can't make it and arrange for a more convenient time. It would mean the teacher would be aware that you won't be there and so may be able to take another parent in your time slot.

You need to let the teacher know. Perhaps there is someone in similar circs and you could see her while your ds is at cubs?

why didn't you change it when you got the appointment to something easier for you?
