to want a lie-in on weekends?

i may get flamed, but i'm awake and i'm gutted about it!!
i get up uncomfortably early in the week, as most of us do, and spend all week looking forward to sleeping in a bit on the weekend.
not til afternoon - just til 9 on a saturday and 10 on a sunday would be bliss!
however, since my neighbour got a new partner i have been woken up every weekend.
i sleep with the window closed on weekends to try and keep the noise down (they go outside, have a very yappy dog etc) but i'm generally woken by diy, housework, music, or doors that slam so loudly my lightshade rattles!
i know people have a right to live their lives, there just seems to be no respect whatsoever about the noise they create.
ds has started to enjoy lie-ins too but they wake him too, and also keep him awake during the week as they have rigged up a speaker system to their tv, which rumbles all evening long.
i guess i just want to moan...
i know i need to broach the subject with them gently at some point soon, the prospect of which does not excite me!

Invite them over for a cup of tea or a meal and work on them very passive aggressively. It the only middle class way to go
