To choose this playgroup

AIBU to want to attend a playgroup outwith my area?

I am expecting DC2 in May and will be keeping DS in nursery his 2 current days (initially) and I'm looking for something to take him to on a thurs. There isn't anything on around me on that day, but there is one in a church hall where I take him to a music class on a fri.

Is it frowned upon to go to a playgroup not in your area? Would people find it odd? I live in a sizeable city, so it's probably about 15 min drive away. I suspect quite a few of the Mums who go also attend the music class.

It's just something to do apart from being stuck in the house with DS crawling up the walls when I'm bf DC2.

Not frowned upon at all. I can't see why it would be tbh. Who is it run by?

I don't see why there would be a problem at all. I regularly used to drive 20 mins to one as I preferred it to the one nearest me.

My nearest one is a 10 minute bus ride away. to me, just 15 minutes away IS in your area anyway. I once took DD1 to a playgroup a three hour drive away from we we lived (obviously not on a regular basis )

Not at all if you live in a sizeable city.

I live in a little village where its all a bit parochial ( not saying all villages are like this...!)and if you get to know people they want to know exactly which house you live in. My DS met most of his closest friends he's now at school with there. I suspect this is a village thing and you have a lot more scope in a city.

I think esp if there are mums there that you already know from music then you should def go. It will be a good break and I'm sure you'll need it!

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll start taking DS next month we can start sussing it out and he can get used to the other children.

ButterPie- not sure who runs it, but will find out next week when I go along.

I know it might have sounded like an odd question, but you know that some people can be a bit funny about these things, so thought I should check the etiquette!
