Not to go out today?

My DS (3) has woken up with chicken pox today. I have called the GP and he says he will write a prescription tomorrow as they shut early today. My SIL has said she will collect the prescription for me tomorrow. My DH called from work and thinks i should take DS to the chemist to pick up piriton and cream and not wait until tomorrow. I don't want to take DS out today whilst he is majorly infectious (even though i would put him in the buggy with a rain cover on to keep the germs in), especially to a chemist where there could be pregnant, immune suppressed, young babies there. I said to DH that i will get piriton tonight when i do the weekly shop but i think that he thinks i am being out of order,am i?(or is he?)

Why can't your dh pick some up on the way home?

LisaD1 · 21/01/2010 10:56

I wouldn't take my child out knowing they were contagious. Your DH is being unreasonable and as PP said why can't he pick some up on his way home?

Hulababy · 21/01/2010 11:00

Your DS can't go out, esecailly to places where there are other, potetially vunerable, people. He needs to be staying inside until fresh spots stop appearing and the spots have scabbed over.

BTW don't bother with calamine - it makes the itching worse IME. piriton is fab though.

get DH to bring some in with him later today.

Thanks guys, I knew I could rely on you! The reason he can't get some on the way home is that he works until the chemist is shut and I usually do the supermarket shopping on a Thursday night anyway so the sooner he gets home, the sooner I can go

Can he not nip out in his lunch break?

Do you not have an out of hours chemist? We have a couple int he city that stay open til 10pm - can find out via HS website.

We do Hula but it's on a busy roundabout that's having major roadworks done on it at the mo so it would be quicker to come straight home. He also has only a 30 minute lunch break and is a 20 minute walk from the shops!
