Yeah, have to say I am a bit over the sex addict thing.....

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 21/01/2010 09:10

Me too. I mean I'm sure there are people who have super high sex drives. But why can't they masturbate? There's no excuse for shagging about on your partner.

BitOfFun · 21/01/2010 09:13

Sex addicts generally wank themselves raw, have frequent one night stands and can't stop pestering people people for sex, unable to quit using phonelines or prostitutes etc. Shaggers are more about the person rather than the sex: and the person is not usually another woman, but Themselves. That is, they are selfish twunts who have a bit on the side because they feel entitled to, and their sense of entitlement is bigger than any respect they have for their partner. IMO.

BitOfFun · 21/01/2010 09:18

Sex addiction isn't so much a high sex drive as a deep neediness though- a craving for the adrenaline rush of sex and the sense of excitement of "pulling", or the degrading feeling of more sordid encounters. It is compulsive behaviour linked to extreme insecurity and the distraction of thrill-seeking. Wanking alone wouldn't really hit the spot.

fanjolina · 21/01/2010 09:22

agreed

SerenityNowAKABleh · 21/01/2010 09:27

Totally off topic, but how can his son be 6 months old, if he was a newborn (judging by the picture) last February? Is he caught in some kind of weird timewarp?

AMumInScotland · 21/01/2010 09:32

At least it sounds like he's facing up to what he's done and the hurt it's caused. I would hope this clinic focuses on "What you did and how you're going to change your attitude and behaviour" and not "Poor you, you've got an addiction, of course you can't help it" - the description of it sounds a lot tougher than some of the celebrity "rehab" nonsense that's out there.

I think in the US they're quicker to make bad behaviour into a "medical" issue, but if that ets people through the door, and dealing with it, then at least that's something.

mayorquimby · 21/01/2010 10:08

good pr move and that's about the height of it.

ImSoNotTelling · 21/01/2010 10:18

Huh all these slebs claim "sex addiction" when they are caught sticking it where they shouldn't.

I'm sure most of them are simply dirty slappers.

EleanoraBuntingCupcake · 21/01/2010 10:22

it is part of the whole puritan weird sex obsessed american dream. no one makes mistakes they just slap a name on the behaviour they don't like and invent cures.

skihorse · 21/01/2010 11:08

It's been reported that he's not attending group therapy meetings, goes out whenever he fancies it and that his mother is staying in a hotel just down the road and he often visits her. He's just trying to save his image. Dickhead.

chandellina · 21/01/2010 11:23

i think you are stating the obvious in your title.
