Every time he comes on I want to throw the screen out of the window.

I like Michael McIntyre but Lee Evans gets on my nerves. I love Ed Byrne.

SilveryMoon · 20/01/2010 14:49

I really don't like MM at all.
I saw him on the One show and he came across as a bit of a prick tbh.

I LOVE Lee Evans though

LimburgseVlaai · 20/01/2010 14:56

NorbertDentressangle - I love your name. We have a motorway game: when we see a Norbert Dentressangle lorry, the first one to yell "NORBEEEEEEERT" gets a point.

Peachy · 20/01/2010 14:58

Ireally likehim, maksmelaugh llike anthing.LeeEvans OTOH makesmecringe.

Such is the nature of comedy LOL, each to their own

Like Dara, Eddie I,Rhod,Russ Boble etc etc etc (actually I thinkk ds2 may be Russ Noble in waiting)

Liked Phil Jupitus live, loathed Mark Lamarr but has been A Very Long time since I saw any comedy live tbh.

Jimmy Carr goes too far for me, can be v funny and thenmakes me go '0h yes- forgot he was a twat', pretty much the same as frankie boyle ybh.

Friend's late dad wasacomedy writer so I know a bit about who is nice and who not but would never dare post on MN (and was a few eyars ago now,tbh although most still well known)

LadyThompson · 20/01/2010 15:01

I think he's fine, but YANBU for disliking him. Comedy is so subjective.

However, the loathing he has inspired in the comedy community verges on bullying and is based on a sort of jealousy. Most comedians are bonkers anyway but they are hugely susceptible to a particularly corrosive form of envy. Comes with the territory.

I felt sorry for him at the Comedy Awards. I hope he's got a nice supportive wife

Sidge · 20/01/2010 15:31

I think he's really funny, but then I love observational humour. I saw MM recently live at Brighton and hadn't laughed so much in a long time.

Comedy is so subjective - many of the comedians mentioned here I can't bear. Would rather eat my pubic hair on toast than listen to Ricky Gervais for example.

CatIsSleepy · 20/01/2010 15:40

oh yes Rhod Gilbert v funny
and loooove Dara too

quite like MM, but think the bits of his act I've seen where he basically takes the piss out of northern accents are pretty lame

lovemynano · 20/01/2010 17:25

Like MM and Jack Dee. Jimmy Carr gives me the creeps with his weird slopey shoulders and tiny hands.

MmeLindt · 20/01/2010 17:26

Ah yes, thanks BIWI. Rhod Gilbert. Just googled him, he was the one. DH and were in bits after watching him, it was the Royal Variety performance.

DH had tears running down his face. Must look and see if I can get a DVD for DH's birthday. Running out of Billy Connelly ones.

DH learnt a lot of his English from BC. He was recently asked in work if he was Scottish. He was very chuffed.

TheBigC · 20/01/2010 17:33

MM its the constant head movements that get me wanting to smash the TV when he is on!

Nowhere near as good as Frankie Boyle.

BecauseImWorthIt · 20/01/2010 17:45

ShowofHands - sorry. Obviously didn't hear you!

Fibilou · 20/01/2010 19:04

"Jimmy Carr goes too far for me, can be v funny and thenmakes me go '0h yes- forgot he was a twat', pretty much the same as frankie boyle ybh."

Totally agree with you there, peachy. Some of his material is just so offensive I can't imagine how anyeone could find it funny. As for Jim Davison, well....

I love Hugh Dennis, especially his "what the Royals are saying" spot on MTW. Also love Stephen K Amos who sometimes appears on MTW.

Does anyone remember Smack the Pony ? I loved that, it was so funny and well observed.

YANBU. He's SO irritating!

Ziggurat · 20/01/2010 20:01

"I also read an interview with MM where he went on and on about how he's been doing the clubs for years and has always been slated and ignored by the critics because he wasn't harsh and so never got a break until recently. He's definitely not had an easy ride. His dad was a famous comedian too although I can't remember his name right now!"

I read the same article, corriefan - 'twas in the Sunday Times Weekend magazine a few weeks back.

I think he's hilarious - saw him at Wembley and my face fell off laughing.

He seems very sweet, and makes a nice change from the twattishness that is the likes of Russell Brand

LetThereBeRock · 20/01/2010 20:02

I loved Smack The Pony. Series 1 and 2 are available on 4oD so I may watch a few episodes tonight.

sazzlelou · 20/01/2010 20:13

FWIW I spent a night with Alan Davies and he was nothing but nice

Macdog · 20/01/2010 20:15

So glad dh and I are not the only people to hate MM

Macdog · 20/01/2010 20:16

Rhod Gilbert dvd here

So funny

DUSTIN · 20/01/2010 20:25

I also like Jason Manford and Lee Mack- lovely cheeky chappies!!

BecauseImWorthIt · 20/01/2010 21:20

sazzlelou - you can't get away with that. Come on - spill!

CardyMow · 20/01/2010 22:11

BertieBotts - - I have to confess to a weirdy crush on Russell Howard. He makes me CREASE up. And all those hand movements and energy...

CardyMow · 20/01/2010 22:13

Ed Byrne and Dara O'Brien are hilarious as well. Just not as fanciable!

MoChan · 20/01/2010 22:50

How does anyone find Lee Evans funny? I really can't comprehend it.

throws arms up in disbelief

He must have a very good agent.

Sam100 · 20/01/2010 23:00

I like Michael Mcintyre cos he makes me laugh. I also loved the story about him telling a bunch of debt collectors where to get off see here.

sazzlelou · 21/01/2010 18:42

BIWI - me and a couple of friends bumped in to him in the QI club and spent the night drinking with him, his wife (fiance) at the time, QI creator and the QI producer.

Was a great night, I however got ridiculously drunk on white wine

But he did autograph my left boob for me
