Sorry he is 4 years old and also has a chest infection, is it likely his sister will get it she is two.xx
Im really worried because doctor told me to keep him at home for the rest of week becuase of getting the antibiotics into him and to get his temp back to normal, im worried about time of school and he had three days off before xmas.

I don't see this as something really to be unreasonable about tbh.

Doctors are often reluctant to diagnose wheezing in under fours as it can be viral-related wheeze which won't necessarily respond to asthma drugs.

Lots of children have it - my ds2 is 5 and has severe asthma, diagnosed officially when he turned 4.

How to explain it to him? Sometimes he has to work a bit harder when he breathes, to get rid of that he has a special medicine. It is scary at first but there is a lot of support out there.

Once his chest infection has gone, talk to your surgery's asthma nurse - there will almost certainly be one, they're great for advice.

As for time off school,he's 4 so won't be missing much. Far far better for him to recover fully.

Hope he feels better soon. Check out the Asthma UK website. Good luck!

Check out the Asthma UK website, my son has been diagnosed by Asthma, at the tender age of 6 months (with a view that it might not be, due to his age) but he has now got nebulizer at home due to the severity of his breathing difficulties and steroid and salbutamol reliever.

www.amazon.com/Taking-Asthma-School-Special-Schools/dp/1891383019 this book is also good and helping children to learn about their condition with the illustrations x
