Poor thing.
Sorry, I haven't got snything that can help

How about telling him the truth - but in a way that he can understand? That he is sick, and that it will make it difficult for him to breathe, and that it will sometimes feel scary. But that there is medicine that he can take to help him feel better - and it will always be there whenever he feels he can't breathe. And that many, many little boys (and girls) have the same thing, and it often gets better as they get older.

This from a child asthmatic who no longer needs any medication.

Asthma can be scary, but it can be well-managed to the point that symptoms are rare.

its horrible , but you will be surprised how quickly young children can adjust , my dd was diagnosed last year when she was 3yrs , now the minute the cough kicks in she will ask for her inhalers ,

Check out the Asthma UK website, my son has been diagnosed by Asthma, at the tender age of 6 months (with a view that it might not be, due to his age) but he has now got nebulizer at home due to the severity of his breathing difficulties and steroid and salbutamol reliever.

www.amazon.com/Taking-Asthma-School-Special-Schools/dp/1891383019 this book is also good and helping children to learn about their condition with the illustrations.
