for wanting to go for my dream job ?

ever since iwas little i have wanted to be a firefighter. i went to collage after dd1 was born to do a public service course, once i completed the course i had dd2. dd2 is now 2.6 and i really want to try and get my fitness back and apply for the fire service.
AIBU for wanting to do such a dangerous job with 2 young dds my dp will become a SAHD if i can get in the fire service.

what was your dream job before your kids and would you still go for it now ?

YANBU - if you were a man you wouldn't even ask the question... I think you should go for it.

Go for it - it's a great career. As BelleDame says, if you were a bloke, no one would blink an eye at you becoming a firefighter with small children

Go for it. There are plenty of women/mothers doing 'dangerous' jobs - coppers, in the army, firefighters, paramedics, search and rescue. They are not to be condemned as selfish for doing such worthwhile jobs, they are to be commended.

To be honest, if you analyse anything there is a fair degree of risk. I sit on my arse in an office all day, however I bomb up and down the M5 every day amounting to about 300miles travelled every week, I take a risk that i may get involved in a crash. Doesn't stop me taking that risk though.

It's better to do something you are passionate about and do it well than something that you don't give a rats arse about for the money. At least that is what my father always said.

Do it. No one would suggest that a father couldn't do the job. Neither would they suggest fathers cannot be as devoted to their children.
