to be still wondering why DH got me a balloon modelling kit for Christmas?

I have been trying to work it out, but I am still baffled. Does he have an urge for there to be weird balloon models all over the place? Does he hope I will turn into a children's entertainer?

Or was it just a present found in the reduced items box?

Prehaps its his way of taking responsiblity for contraception?

chickensaresafehere · 17/01/2010 18:38

Maybe he is dropping a hint
I watched a very strange programme once about a man who got sexually aroused by women blowing up balloons & then he liked to rub them over his body!!

biggirlsdontcry · 17/01/2010 18:43

lol- sorry Noah but is he normally this crap at gifts ?

GrimmaTheNome · 17/01/2010 18:44

Because he never got given a balloon sausage dog when he was a little boy and wants to ensure your DCs don't suffer similar deprivation?

NoahAndTheWhale · 17/01/2010 18:44

I had not considered that sort of idea . the balloons are quite thin - not sure they'd be great in a contraceptive way .

He's not normally that bad with presents. This year was a bad year I think...

NoahAndTheWhale · 17/01/2010 18:57

Luckily we don't do presents for valentines day or who knows what I'd end up with

I bet he bought it for himself.

snigger · 17/01/2010 19:12

I roll this one out on here almost annually, but I got, for my second anniversary, a Puzz 3-d of the Millenial Falcon.

340 pieces of interlocking grey foam.

Be still my beating heart.

The only upside was the teeny sticker of Han Solo. I didn't burn that.

Ask him if he can think of any other creative use of the pump.

darkandstormy · 17/01/2010 22:22

this thread made my day brilliant..... my husband last year got me glittery wellies and this year learn how to fly a falcon/bird of prey in a morning voucher fantastic I think our other halves have great optimism for the unearthing of hidden talents.......

TheFallenMadonna · 17/01/2010 22:25

I got DH a balloon animals kit for Christmas .

I got him other stuff too, honest.

I thought it would be fun for him and the DC.

Now I feel bad...

lucyellensmumagain · 17/01/2010 22:36

I remember googling balloons once, i was looking for them for my parents anniversary party - i was to find some very X-rated sites. I guess if he also bought you pink fluffy handcuffs you have your answer

lucyellensmumagain · 17/01/2010 22:37

Oh i would be thrilled to get the falcon thing - do youwant to swap for my breadmaker??

WidowWadman · 17/01/2010 22:42

I've bought DH a baloon modelling kit for Christmas (as a stocking filler) because I thought he'd like it. (He did)

pingviner · 17/01/2010 22:43

I got DH balloon animals too as an advent present
For christmas he got a set that allows you to enclose a full grown adult in a bubble

I think its a great present!

smallandkind · 17/01/2010 22:49

Thread reminds me of simpson's episode where Homer buys Marge a bowling ball for her birthday with a big H on it. When Marge seems confused, Homer offers to take it off her hands and says "look - here's a co-incidence it's got an H on it for Homer"

CurlyhairedAssassin · 17/01/2010 22:52

Well, there is a particular image coming to mind here......and probably to your other half's:

you blow up all the balloons, get naked, tie them around yourself to hide your modesty and DH approaches carefully with a pin.

NoahAndTheWhale · 18/01/2010 13:38

The thing is, we're on a bit of a budget so (although this makes me sound awful) if it had been a stocking filler it wouldn't have bothered me. I got the balloon modelling kit and a pot that you put money into (and can't get it out until you smash it). That was it.

I will enjoy making animals I am sure .

I once got my husband one because I thought he'd like a silly present.

lucky1979 · 18/01/2010 14:36

An ex once made me a pink frilly apron for Xmas, out of cotton, so useless for actual cooking, even if I was so inclined to wear something that ridiculous.

My assumption was that he wanted me to wear it for bedroom, rather than kitchen activities. But no, he genuinely thought what I really needed was an apron, presumably to heat up my ready meals as that is all I ever ate at that point.

Men get weird ideas in their head about presents sometimes.

NoahAndTheWhale · 18/01/2010 14:39

Making a pink frilly apron is quite impressive though...
