Do it somewhere practical, and not on a crossing, so that people with a buggy / wheelchair etc have to go on the road? Surely annoying and endangering people is not going to make them sympathetic to your cause? It certainly didn't me... Would have been more than happy to stop and listen had they not been totally and utterly in the way.
