I watched this and thought that these police officers, that are clearly on duty as they are in full uniform, should have something more important to do.

Please watch this and let me know what you think.

LetThereBeRock · 15/01/2010 18:19

I think it's great. It made me smile to see them having fun and it'll do wonders for their reputation.
It's important for people to see that they're as human as anyone.

scottishmummy · 15/01/2010 18:29

what next report nhs staff for laughing in built up area?

the police demonstrably happy having a laugh, exhibiting human side.good on them

Vallhala · 15/01/2010 18:33

I hadn't seen that clip until I read this thread... and it's made my day.

YABU. The country is not going to go into decline because a few cops play silly-buggers in the snow.

Blu · 15/01/2010 18:38

Oh, good for them!

KimiLivesInStarbucks · 15/01/2010 18:41

They are just having a laugh, FFS I mean it not like they are allowed to arrest anyone these days anyway and they must get fed up checking taxdisc all day

secretgardin · 15/01/2010 18:58

can't see where the problem is with having a bit of fun poor buggers are damned if they do and damned if they don't

differentID · 15/01/2010 19:02

do you know what- any joy that these guys can get in a job that is not considered to be pleasant is a plus. This cannot be thought of as dereliction of duty or other things I heard bandied about in rl, it's a group of blokes playing silly buggers and having a laugh.

no one got injured, community spirit is alive and well and they let off steam.

Morloth · 15/01/2010 19:30

The bus driver the other day (looks around conspiratorially) actually laughed and slowed the bus down when there were a bunch of kids throwing snowballs at it - he wasn't however silly enough to open the door for them to pelt him directly.

But he slowed the bus down! It must have taken us an extra 15 seconds at least to have reached our destinations...

jellybeans · 15/01/2010 19:31

yabu they are just having abit of fun like any other worker does.

scottishmummy · 15/01/2010 19:46

there is the problemo.public sector mirth causes consternation apparently

kinnies · 15/01/2010 19:49

Its horrid to see people enjoying themselfs

ShowOfHands · 15/01/2010 19:58

My dh is a police officer. It's his birthday today. He worked a 10hr shift. He baked a cake yesterday and took it in to share with his colleagues round their desks. Me? I hope they choked on it, wasting taxpayers time and money eating sugary goods. I bet they even smiled and shared a joke. Feckers.

TheCrackFox · 15/01/2010 20:04
Grin
scottishmummy · 15/01/2010 20:14

happy birthday to your dh soh.hope he doesnt laugh too hard.after all taxpayers dont want happy workers

Hulababy · 15/01/2010 20:22

Ah give them a break. Probably did a lot of good for community relations being seen sledging with the kids and youths all about. Nice to see them having a laugh for a change and all that.

upahill · 15/01/2010 20:49

Hey Morloth I bet you were disgusted!! I think you should start a thread about it!

IloveNickClegg · 15/01/2010 21:02

this is unacceptable behaviour of UK police on duty

Get a life OP !

My DH is a Police Officer too .

PurpleEglu · 15/01/2010 21:06

Thanks for posting link to video, I hadn't seen it only read about it.

I think it's great they had a bit of fun

FlowerPotWeed · 15/01/2010 21:10

Good for them - just glad that the 'elf and safety' gremlins didn't get a chance to do a risk assessment on them sledging down a treacherous slope with a riot shield!

heQet · 15/01/2010 21:15

I liked it. Nice to see some humanity. I can't imagine any sane person actually being offended by 2 minutes of fun.

Well, not since Mary Whitehouse, anyway...

apron66 · 15/01/2010 21:26

When I saw this I had a laugh out loud hug yourself moment It's great to be alive and how I love how this snow wobbles the hamster wheel....(but am 5 mins from Picadilly Line, anyone need a food parcel still?)

KittyNotVengefulAnymore · 15/01/2010 21:35

Jumping on Morloth's wagon...

Copsbehavingbadly - would you have have said the same thing if it was a bunch of nurses or doctors tobogganing?

I mean, they work to save lives and protect others as well, god forbid, in a break that they have a laugh together...

I thought it looked like fun and thanks for posting this. I hadn't heard of it at all until now!

crankytwanky · 15/01/2010 21:36

I am disgusted too, Cops...

Just imagine, actual police officers not in an office doing essential, but out engaging with the community!? Spending time with the very people who pay their wages!
The bloody cheek of it!

Off you sled, there's a dear.

(Good post, NickClegg)

crankytwanky · 15/01/2010 21:37

Essential paper work!

LittleMrsHappy · 15/01/2010 21:40

shicking that the community police are out "shock horror" in the community!
Nice to know that they are human and approachable instead of just seeing the official uniform.
