I watched this and thought that these police officers, that are clearly on duty as they are in full uniform, should have something more important to do.

Please watch this and let me know what you think.

I have decided that this country needs more fun and less po-faced judgemental control freakery.

gorionine · 15/01/2010 17:25

Police officers are human too therefore, allowed a bit of a break IMHO. Why should they miss o nall the fun?

Maybe they were assassing the dangers of sliding on a riot shield?

It is nice to see them sharing the interests of the public I think!

CopsBehavingBadly · 15/01/2010 17:25

Ok, one final thought, I think it would have been better (and would have gone unnoticed) if they weren't in uniform.

Why? Actual, tangible reasons please.

lucyellensmumagain · 15/01/2010 17:28

Ive only one thing to say about this

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!

GypsyMoth · 15/01/2010 17:28

so they quickly get changed....go sledging and then back into uniform??

hmmm

CopsBehavingBadly · 15/01/2010 17:29

LaurieFairyCake

Maybe disgust was a bit harsh, I think more disapproval...

gorionine · 15/01/2010 17:29

But if it had gone unnotticed, we would have missed on this nice cheerful fun.

lifeistooshort · 15/01/2010 17:30

oh lighten up, they are only human and there was harldy going to be a riot in the snow

Err, but then they wouldn't have had their riot shields to use as makeshift sledges would they?!

There are loads of things to be disgusted about - the 100s of thousands suffering in Haiti without food, water or medical care for example - but this isn't one of them.

CopsBehavingBadly · 15/01/2010 17:32

Alright, I am going to quit this now as I see IABU and we should all enjoy the snow. Where can I get me a riot shield?

think it is fine, in fact a good bit of PR for a force not known for their good natured side.

threetimemummy · 15/01/2010 17:33

Before you go... why namechange??

Morloth · 15/01/2010 17:33

Much rather see a riot shield being used a sledge than for hitting someone over the head with.

Good on them and only if you have never ever taken 10 minutes to yourself out of time you were being paid to do something else. So never ducked out for a coffee/fag, never had a look at a newspaper/online, never gone for a bit of fresh air, never stood in the office kitchen and chatted for a couple of minutes with a coworker, then and only then could you possibly be in any sort of position to comment.

Seems to me that the bigger full length riot shields would have made a better sledge though.

Most of the police I have met over the years have been pretty nice and usually have a minute to say hello and generally be pleasant, not really seeing the difference here.

Though it is kinda funny it took what 5 of them? To sort out how to use it.

I saw this is the press, and thought it was good to see. I was sad to see that they were reprimanded. I suppose lots of form filling awaited!!

upahill · 15/01/2010 18:02

Cops....It looks like you didn't get the response you wanted. Share your disgust!!! Dear me! That is so High Horsed. As some one else said as long as you have spent every single second nose to grid without stopping for brew, quick natter about last nights telly or whatever I don't think you are really in apostion to moan about people having 5 mins laugh. They were still on duty ready to respond to what ever they needed to.
At least they made it work in the snow. Plenty from my place didn't or wouldn't!! before people jump on me saying you don't know people's circumstances - we are not that big a department of full time staff and people came in and said ' I thought sod it yesterday I'm not bothering!'

TeaOneSugar · 15/01/2010 18:10

Oh ffs.

upahill · 15/01/2010 18:12

Oi! Tea... Was that directed at me???

scottishmummy · 15/01/2010 18:16
