To think If I don't want my hotel room cleaned every day then that should be espected

The 'worst things you have done in a hotel' got me thinking about how often requests to not have my room cleaned have been ignored, and I wonder why.

One holiday on Crete, it was a self catering apartment. We came back to find all our clothes in the washing machine (including dirty underwear, yeuch), the floors reeking of bleach and the bread we'd left out had been binned.

We asked again for them not to bother cleaning - next day same thing happened.

Then in a hotel in paris, we put 'do not disturb' sign on the door, only to be woken at 8am by a very grumpy woman who plugged in the hoover and started cleaning despite us being naked in bed.

Yes trivial thing to moan about....
