To wonder how an international superstar like Beyonce could let herself be pimped out like this.

Here.

I think it's disgusting.

Morloth · 15/01/2010 11:11

Well I can think of 1.2 million reasons.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 15/01/2010 11:13

I started a thread about this yesterday, but noone posted.

I was stunned, it's hardly as though she really needs the money

slightlystressed · 15/01/2010 11:17

Its not suprising if you watch the music videos for the 2 songs she did with JayZ, you'll see her dancing around him like some pole dancer while he just stands their looking smug.

ronshar · 15/01/2010 11:23

It just shows that money cant buy you taste!
Is she pregnant or just bad posture?

gypsymummy · 15/01/2010 11:31

i am British but originally from Libya and I am totally revolted and feel obliged to comment..that money belongs to the Libyan people who I must tell you do not live like kings and queens although Libya is a rich oil producing country....many live under the poverty line although a very small population of 6 million. I felt like throwing up seing those images and it goes to show nobody really cares about human rights or has a problem supporting dictators and their corrupt progeny when it comes to their pockets ..the whole truce with Libya boils down to the oil wealth it has..and so everybody turns a blind eye at the conditions in that country assuming all is ok now.

posieparker · 15/01/2010 11:31

She's gorgeous and perfectly non skeletal. Maybe not the best move in the world but I can't think it will affect her career in the slightest, not as if most of her fans even know who Gaddafi is. Perhaps we should be just as aghast as the other people enjoying the party, like Bon Jovi and Usher?

SolidGoldBrass · 15/01/2010 11:32

Actually, while I can appreciate people taking issue with the ethics of doing a private performance for someone regarded as a bad or unsavoury individual, I think both the DM piece and some of the comments on here are misogynistic. Just because Beyonce is female, I don't see the need to suggest that she must have sucked his cock as well as doing her job which is singing and dancing. Plenty of male musicians also accept money from unsavoury individuals/organisations for private performances and while people might (and do) condemn this as well, it's not usually impled that the male musicians are including sexual favours in the job.

posieparker · 15/01/2010 11:32

gyspymummy, you are so right.

ronshar · 15/01/2010 11:33

Posie, I agree it is refreshing to see a normal lass on the stage.
Bon Jovi has seriously gone down in my eyes now. He does loads of good work with the homeless and low income families in the US but hten goes to a party thrown by a terrorist excuser.

gypsymummy · 15/01/2010 11:34

It is not about HER ..to me it is about giving HIM the oppurtunity to take center stage and show off his corruptness..look at hwhat happened to Saddam's two sons ..they were so corrupt and so vile and yet ended up ina ditch..does anyone learn from that???!

ronshar · 15/01/2010 11:34

SGB, it is the daily mail!

ImSoNotTelling · 15/01/2010 11:40

Agree with SGB as usual. Ronshar I think she was referring to the OP as much as anything else. "How has she allowed herself to be pimped out" has nasty connotations and presupposes that Beyonce is not able or allowed to make any decisions for herself.

nickytwotimes · 15/01/2010 11:41

Why is anyone surprised?

In order to make a lot of cash, you usually need to leave some of your morals (wrt who you will work for) behind.

And I don't get the cock sucking thing either. She is being paid to perform.

ronshar · 15/01/2010 11:43

Oh yes I see what you mean now. I knew I was missing something. doh

HADtonamechangeforthisone · 15/01/2010 11:49

Read that this morning and I must admit it really made me change my opinion of her. Don't think she is "pimping" herself out though just think she is clearly ruled by money and this is pretty horrendous considering she probably had more money than she could spend in a life time before she did this performance.

Quite sickened by it really.

Morloth · 15/01/2010 11:49

Agree with nickytwotimes you don't get rich by turning down large sums of money.

nothingofthesort · 15/01/2010 11:52

Sorry about the title. By pimping I didn't mean anything to do with sex, but I think her non-clothes and gyrating moves probably had a leetle bit to do with why they hired her.

OP posts:
HADtonamechangeforthisone · 15/01/2010 11:54

Yes, but she is already rich. Money supposedly gives you choices doesn't it? Think she made a bad decision with this one.

bibbitybobbityhat · 15/01/2010 11:56

This sort of thing disgusts me. How much fucking money does one person need? Greedy greedy greedy greedy greedy greedy greedy greedy greedy greedy woman. Opinion of her now plummeted to 0.

MmeLindt · 15/01/2010 12:00

Was a party for Gadaffi's son or a party where he just happened to be there?

Not that it matters really. If people like Beyonce, Bon Jovi and Usher party with him it lends him an air of respectability.

He looks pretty scary in the one photo.

lobsters · 15/01/2010 12:00

I think it is a sexist thing, I've been a corporate do's with people like Robbie, Elton John, Bryan Adams, Westlife performing private gigs, I've never seen them get slated for it. Clearly their agent is no where near as good as I know they didn't get anything like that amount of money.

The Gaddafi link is not a good move, but private performances by pop stars is completely standard, I can't see how it is a news story

bibbitybobbityhat · 15/01/2010 12:02

Just to clear this up lockets, I have no respect for the male multi millionaire popstars playing private gigs either. Being greedy is the most hideous of human traits.

MmeLindt · 15/01/2010 12:03

The party in St. Bart?s on New Year?s Eve, with Beyoncé in performance, was hosted by Muatsim-Billah Gaddafi, not his brother Moutassim Bilal ?Hannibal? Gaddafi, as reported in the press. Her agents and management firm made the decision to confirm the private performance.

The annual party had a long history of booking internationally known artists both American and foreign for events around the world, including Cannes.Past performers in St. Bart?s have included Timbaland, Enrique Iglesias and Mariah Carey. Guests at this year?s party included singer Usher, former BET CEO Bob Johnson, actress Lindsay Lohan and music industry vets, Russell Simmons, Kevin Liles and L.A. Reid

MmeLindt · 15/01/2010 12:04

Lobsters
Read the Guardian story about what kind of 'man' Hannibal Gaddaffi is before saying it is not a news story.

Lifegoeson · 15/01/2010 12:14

YANBU.

I agree NS, I was very shocked when I saw the article, she looks like she's performing in a cheap lap dancing club or something equally sleazy.

It's not like they need the money after just hitting the top of high earning couples on the Forbes richlist.

Yes of course she is entitled to perform wherever she likes to whomever she likes, but morals, principles etc do come into it, well clearly not for Beyonce. I don't think the US folks will be very happy at all either... Not a great career move...

I've lost all respect for her.
