I'm looking on ebay.ie for used wii games, and because Ireland is small as a market, all searches show Uk sellers that will send to Ireland. Games almost always are free p&p to the UK, so why the fuck do they think its ok to put charges like £13.95 for postage to Ireland?
It costs about a pound to send a game to Ireland. If you don't want to post here, don't say you will, and waste my time on reading item after item with riduculous rip off postage fees!

Grrrr.

You have to offer free P&P on UK sales on computer games now the same as dvds - new rules have been on place on Ebay for a while.

I wonder if the system allows to charge outside the UK but, even so, £14 is very expensive. Is that the bulk of sellers or just one?

I don't know about that instance, but in some cases the item is under-priced and they make their money on the postage. I always assumed this avoided paying Ebay so much in fees.

It does allow them to charge on international postage, but aren't there rules about charging 14 times what it actually costs to post?

Is £13.95 really 14 times the cost though?

500g packet is £3.54, add on Airsure (so it's signed-for, which a lot of sellers will) for another £4.50, factor in packaging costs + potentially the costs of a special trip to the post office (petrol/parking etc) to post - as they probably already have prepaid stuff for the UK - and it's suddenly not looking so unreasonable...

If you don't like the total price, don't buy, simples

pooexplosions · 14/01/2010 20:32

No way a wii game weighs 500g or anything like.
Its the fact that I have to trawl through outrageous ones trying to find the reasonable ones. Nobody is going to pay 14 quid postage, so why not just say you'll only post in the UK, and save peoples time.

YANBU

I bought some nappies last year, that weren't as listed so sent them back & to be fair I did get all costs back including both lots of postage but, it cost me £1 less to send back fast recorded than slow unrecorded I'd paid at purchase! Postage cost is a determining factor in me watching or bidding.

BetsyBoop · 14/01/2010 20:48

well I don't own a wii, so I've no idea how much wii game + packaging weighs, but even a 10g packet is £1.21 and airsure is £4.50 regardless of weight...

you don't have to "trawl through" just sort by "price + P&P lowest first" - the tools are there to help you if you use them.

I use this all the time when I buy stuff from the US that you can't get here, some seller are very reasonable with their shipping & some seller take the p
