to wish my toilet attendant would take a lunch break

right now he is asleep on the job, he is welcome to go and nap in his bed - he is live in. But no he is by the toilet door fast asleep.

I wouldn't mind but I didn't even hire him to be a toilet attendant he seems to have taken on this role in the last 2 days, I assume as some attempt to stay in the warmer areas. Even at 3am when I got up for a wee there he was by the door, refusing to move. He likes to keep the door open so I have to pee with the door open, if I try and shut it he stays still and gets pushed by the door but won't move his feet.

Sometimes he likes to pull the toilet roll down and test the quality of it by chewing it, I wouldn't mind that either if he put it in the bin after. This is him

Lol! He is gorgeous. Let him stay! He obviously feels he has found his calling in life

southeastastra · 13/01/2010 12:19

! i want one

Pixel · 13/01/2010 12:21

Ah how sweet! I have the feline version, he insists on sleeping behind the door so you can't open it properly and have to sidle in to use the toilet. I've got a big bruise in my leg where I bashed it on the radiator while trying not to disturb the cat!

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 13/01/2010 12:24

You have a house rabbit!?

what about the poo?

giraffesCantWalkInSnow · 13/01/2010 12:27

He has a litter tray TDWP

Oooh that's impressive!

How on earth did you train him? (needs more info)

cakeywakey · 13/01/2010 12:43

Bless him. Is he sleeping on a bit of floor with hot pipes underneath it? My MIL's cat used to do that - she liked being cosy

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 13/01/2010 12:52

When I was pregnant with ds1, our two cats used to think that they had to keep an eye on me when I went to the loo - they'd dash up stairs, and sit on the side of the bath watching me. If I nipped upstairs for something, and whoever was on duty didn't spot me leaving, I'd meet them on my way back down the stairs.

I did wonder if they somehow sensed I was pregnant, as they never did it before that, or since - presumeably I'd proved with ds1 that I was capable of being pregnant and weeing safely, so with ds2 and ds3 they decided to trust me.

giraffesCantWalkInSnow · 13/01/2010 13:42

DavidTsgirl have heard things about cats acting oddly when people pregnant in the past, I wonder if they can sence something.

TDWP he trained himself really, I didn't do much. I have a litter tray for him, not like a cats one, a triangular one that goes in the corner which is necessary as their pee goes quite high in the corner. It has cat litter in it (wood pellets so not toxic if they nibble it) and hay on top. I started just putting any poos on top of the hay in the tray and he just sort of kept going there. He used to only get out the cage when I was in the room as when he was a baby he used to chew lots. Now hes out all the time, but cage is always open for him to go back to - has litter tray, food and water and toys. He is like a very low maintanence dog!

lovely - maybe i need one too

CMOTdibbler · 13/01/2010 13:53

Cat3 is also in charge of the downstairs loo - he sits on where the hot pipes go.

Friends of my parents had a muntjac deer who lived in their kitchen and used a litter tray..

borderslass · 13/01/2010 13:58

we had a rabbit like that she died 3 days after christmas 2008 aged 9, but we have a cat who sleeps over the pipes outside the bathroom and another who follows you around like a child.

Pixel · 13/01/2010 16:27

I was wondering about the chewing. I used to have a rabbit that had a hutch outside but spent a lot of time indoors as she liked the company. She had to be watched the whole time because she was terrible for chewing things. She once disappeared behind the sofa and the next moment we were sitting in the dark because she'd bitten through the cable of the standard lamp. How she wasn't electrocuted I'll never know.

It put me off the idea of a house rabbit even though I'd heard they could be litter trained.

giraffesCantWalkInSnow · 13/01/2010 17:46

AT first it was a nightmare if I let him out I had to have all the cables out the way and trap him in an enclosed space. But hes fine now, I guess the better he got at realising when he chewed them I shouted/threw a cusion near him then he stopped...and the more he stopped the more I let him out so he was less bored. And when they aren't so bored they stop being so desrtuctive. If I have a cable out that hes not used to seeing eg my GHDs then he will come and pick it up with his teeth and put it down again - sort of playing with it but not actually chewing, because its a new smell. But I tend not to leave my GHDs out as they are £100! Never rips wall paper or chews wood anymore either - only did that when he was under a year.

My sisters toilet attendant is a cat. Sadly, I normally need a wee at 4 am. He would be asleep on the top of a stool, wake up, and JUMP towards me, trying to DIVE in between my legs, to drink water from the bowl.

Most unnerving. I had new scratchmarks in odd places every morning.

brockleybelle · 16/01/2010 00:11

Awwww, bless the little man, so cute!!

Vallhala · 16/01/2010 00:34

PMSL. I was expecting to see a Labrador puppy!

Your new pal is very sweet, makes me wish I could have one but the pet ferret might get odd ideas about him.

Pixel · 16/01/2010 13:45

Ah, well maybe one of these days we will get another bunny. I've kept the indoor cage I had for the guinea pigs, just in case.

TrillianAstra · 16/01/2010 13:57

I was going ot say that toilet attendants are weird.

Yours it kinda cute though.
