My son's school is down a cul de sac and there is always dog poo in the middle of the pavement. Why would someone leave it there? It is an infant school so the children aren't that aware of dog poo. It just drives me mad!

Oh me too- it's vile. If I ever catch the person who lets their dog dump along the road in my village I'm going to take it back round to their house and out it through the door in a brown envelope!!

Vallhala · 09/01/2010 19:00

Equally as vile are the tons of crisp packets, sweet wrappers, coke cans, chip papers, juice bottles, broken glass and similar crap which line the path of my dog-walk... which also happens to be the path leading to the local comprehensive school.

Funnily enough Valhalla, as I was walking my dog today I picked up two chocolate bar wrappers and a discarded bottle as I was on my way to the bin anyway (with my little bag of dog poo). And my poor dog suffered a very nasty cut on her foot just a couple of months ago due to broken glass.

Dog shit and litter. People are revolting.

displayuntilbestbefore · 09/01/2010 19:07

yanbu
litter and dog shit are the bane of every school run IME
Everywhere I've lived there has been a need to keep vigilant to avoid dcs stepping in some on their way to and from school.

jumpyjan · 09/01/2010 19:16

YANBU - I get sooo cross about dog poo. It is just so lazy and thoughtless - DD narowly missed falling into some the other day when she came off her bike - yuk!

LynetteScavo · 09/01/2010 19:21

vallhala - I disagree. Crisp wrappers and coke cans are no where near as disgusting as dog poo.

I will happily pick up any stray litter I see, but having to clean dog poo off my DC's shoes is just the worst part of parenting there is.

Vallhala · 09/01/2010 19:26

Lynette, glass in my dogs' feet is far worse than dogshit imho. That's not to say that I condone the leaving of dogshit though.

violethill · 09/01/2010 19:29

Litter and dog shit are all vile, and potentially hazardous in all sorts of ways.

Fucking disgusting.

junglist1 · 09/01/2010 19:51

And why always right in the middle? WHY??!!!!

Meglet · 09/01/2010 19:58

yanbu. I have been sneakily spying on local people walking their dogs as we have a lot of poo on the pavement round here and I am trying to figure out who it is.

My pushchairs are stored in the open plan downstairs and I don't want dog poo in my loungue anymore.

incacat · 09/01/2010 20:30

Dog poo is the worst. I have 2 pooey stories to share.
When my dh was younger and before he met me, he had a break-in at his flat. After calling the police, they turned up to take statements, etc. After a while dh smelt a poo smell and realised that it was smeared all over the policewoman's shoe. He was too embarrassed to tell her to take her shoes off and let her walk all over the carpets! . I have always asked people to take their shoes off when they come into my house, so I nearly died when he told me this tale.
A very good friend was sick and tired of always stepping in poo outside her house. She saw a woman with a dog get out of a car and the pooch immediately pooed on the path. She waited for the woman to walk off and got a spade, picked up the poo and smeared it all over the woman's windscreen. She waited in the house for the dog-walker to return...alas it was the next car along that she got into.

ruebenjames · 09/01/2010 20:41

That second story is tooo funny!
The amount of dog owners who just don't care drives me barmy. I live near a park and have seen people with children and dogs ingnore the dogs pooh! What sort of example are they setting? And what if it was their child who trod in it? How would they fell then? Grrrrr!

feralgirl · 09/01/2010 20:51

What is EVEN worse is the way that some dog owners very carefully pick up their shite, bag it and then just leave the sodding bag somewhere instead! That's even worse because at least shit on its own will eventually biodegrade, shit in a bag takes much longer.

There is an old biddy who walks her yappy type dog outside my house every day and it always craps in the hedge by my house. When I was pg I stood in it and traipsed it all though my living room then crossed my legs whilst sat on the sofa and got it all up my legs

ruebenjames · 09/01/2010 20:58

That's horrible, poor you, and old people should know better (or you would like to think).

sootysox · 11/01/2010 22:39

I always clean up after my dog. And I agree, it is a filthy, lazy, inconsiderate habit not to clean up after your dog.

I hate to see dog mess on the ground - and I don't want my dog sniffing it either.

upafrozenhill · 11/01/2010 22:43

Feralgirl I was reading the thread from the begining and I was going to make that point about dog shite parcels!!
I hate going to the countryside and seeing small sandwhich bags of shit hanging from a stone wall or a tree.
