Obviously not actual crap but crumbs, flour and other cooking related detritus. What's the bloody point?

kill him

Nanga · 09/01/2010 15:44

if that's the worse thing he does, then, blimey, YABU!

at least he knows how the hoover works.

TheHouseofMirth · 09/01/2010 15:49

It's not the worst he does Nanga, it's the best.

He has a degree, I should bloody well hope he does know how the hoover works. Surely simple logic dictates that you clean from the top to the bottom and not the other way round?

My DH does that as well. Hoovers the entire lounge and then notices the dust. Um, remove the dust first, you silly silly man.

MrsJohnDeere · 09/01/2010 15:59

I'd swap for mine who wouldn't even know how to use one.

whichwitchisthis · 09/01/2010 15:59

yes dh does this too and also doesn't pic toys etc up just vacs around them! He also does one room at a time

He will start by vaccing the kitchen and then start wiping the sides and picking toys up whilst leaving the vac running on it's own...beggars belief!

borderslass · 09/01/2010 16:02

better than mine will Hoover round stuff and on the handful of occasions he's done it in the last 20 years i quote " I hoovered up for you" to which i sarcastically reply "of course I'm the only one who walks on the carpets"

Openbook · 09/01/2010 16:02

We all know that hoovering is an executive task and thus suited to a man.

seriously - be grateful for small mercies and spend the next 30 years building on this small start.

DuelingFanjo · 09/01/2010 16:03

cross is momentarily fine, but let it go!

TheHouseofMirth · 09/01/2010 16:08

DuellingFanjo we've already made up but it will not stop him doing it again...

I think what makes me frustrated is that he cannot understand why it's fundamentally stupid.

OP posts:
BarkisIsWilling · 09/01/2010 16:21

Probably thinking that what goes up must come down, so no real need to clean the countertops.

littlemoominmamma · 09/01/2010 16:32

You are right to be cross, he should have hoovered the worktops too!

diddl · 09/01/2010 17:11

Why does anyone care about this?

Isn´t it possible to clean a surface without it going on the floor?

orangetree · 09/01/2010 17:14

My DH would have done the same sort of thing. YANBU (well, maybe a bit, at least he tried)

I think cabin fever, plus the fact I have been ill for 3 weeks but have still had to carry on as normal whilst other people were ill for a few days and retired to bed, may be having an effect on my perpective. And my ability to construct a sentence.

I do still maintain it is a crap way of working (as evidenced by the fact he had to re-hoover the floor after doing the worktops).

OP posts:
kinnies · 09/01/2010 18:05

whispers

MrsSawdust · 09/01/2010 18:15

My dh does exactly that. And the hoovering around the toys thing. And when he's cooking and there's a laundry basket on the kitchen floor, he won't move it out of his way, he just keeps stepping round it getting more and more annoyed at it's being in his way. Also leaves every single kitchen cupboard open as he's getting stuff out of them then keeps banging his head on them.

You've got to love them though, haven't you?!

I don't particularly get my knickers in a twist over it. I'm just happy to have married a man who does his share.

Besides, the way I do certain things drives him crackers too.

ProfessorPoopyPants · 09/01/2010 18:32

All, mirth, I know just how you feel. You need a night out, babysitter, bottle of wine and trip to Pizza Express for the 2 of you, followed by a funny movie.
If any consolation, exactly the sort of debate we have all the time.
I agree with others, at least he is doing something, pity he is so crap at it.
