To be thinking dark thoughts about adoption?

Walked kids to panto in the City this morning with Mum and it was super (oh yes it was!), but ds bellowed all the way there about being forced to wear a coat in a blizzard (real tears and shouting, at 9!!) and then half the way back about the injustice of having chosen "the wrong sub" in Subway (this after he'd pissed off all of us and most of the staff in there by dithering) and not being allowed to go back and choose another one. Then when he'd finally shut up, dd took over howling hysterically about my outrageous decision to not allow her to keep her pet snowball in the freezer. I NEED BETTER DRUGS OR FEWER CHILDREN! Rant ends.

YANBU

Hullygully · 09/01/2010 15:32

You're a bit horrid. What's wrong with a snowball in the freezer?

Hullygully · 09/01/2010 15:33

My freezer's full of em

SoupDragon · 09/01/2010 15:34

Put your DD in the freezer and keep the pet snowball?

LaurieFairyCake · 09/01/2010 15:36

I don't think you're being horrible, the behaviour and annoyance generated is cumulative

after 4 days of cacky behaviour and the cabin fever in this house (it's like The Shining in here) I could cheerfully chop her up and use her for firewood.

shockers · 09/01/2010 15:44

We also have a pet snowball in the freezer

I want to run away i've had enough of my 2 now.

jeminJanuaryWooHo · 09/01/2010 15:55

They mate y'know...pet snowballs in freezer.....

YANBU- for the snowball, otherwise you end up with an army of them.

And I feel for you on the day out- why do they have to make it so hard? Litte bleeders! Have a drink of something nice, and a break from them if you can.

BadMutha · 09/01/2010 15:55

Yeeees. Feeling a bit of an arsehole about the snowball now (compromise was making it a nest in the garden to live in, which she seems happy about). Thank you for your support, sisters, I feel better already and will probably kill no-one tonight . Another successful day of parenting!

That poor snowball, out there in its nest, all alone...

I knew someone would say that. But it doesn't mean I don't empathize.

callaird · 09/01/2010 19:51

Reminds me of a poem!

I made myself a snowball,
As perfect as could be.
I thought I'd keep it as a pet,
And let it sleep with me.
I made it some pyjamas.
And a pillow for it's head.
Then last night it ran away,
But first..............it wet the bed!

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 09/01/2010 19:55

I wondered what the hell you was on about and why everyone was being so supportive until I read maryz's post. I thought you were regretting adopting.

dustycups · 09/01/2010 19:55

thats brilliant callaird!

biggirlsdontcry · 09/01/2010 20:10

very good callaird , ds 10yrs is in stitches LOL

BadMutha · 10/01/2010 09:23

My kids would probably be happier if I had them adopted (at least, that's what they tell me) - not called BadMutha for nothing!

Agree that it is cumulative, I was going a bit mad after 2 weeks home with them at Christmas but have now had an extra week of being cooped up in the house thanks to the snow. I rang my mum yesterday to ask her to come and get them for the afternoon so I didn't list them on freecycle but she was snowed in too
