To expect ds to use my OLD makeup, not my new good stuff?

hurumph! I tell him he can use my old n017 crappy foundation but oh no, he wants my new second skin one! Same with my new expensive mascara!

He can have the old stuff, aibu to not want to share the new lot?

YANBU. It's a pain, isn't it?! My kids always make a beeline for anything with "Clinique" or "Clarins" written on it, and ignore all the Boots/Rimmel etc stuff.
Buy a locakable box, or store it on top of a cupboard where they can't reach it!

oh, he's 9. He just loves to wear make up and things. That's fine, he's very flamboyant I just don't think it's unreasonable to insist that he stays out of my good stuff!!!!

OK, I hadn't realised he was 9 years old. He is definitely old enough to leave your stuff alone if you tell him to, and you do not need to lock your stuff away (I wrote that in reference to my 3-year-old!).

Tell him to leave it alone, end of.

I don't let my dds use my make-up (13 and 11), unless they have run out of something and then they have to ask me.

They buy make-up with their pocket money so they buy cheap stuff.

I suppose telling him to buy his own out of his pocket money would be most sensible, but actually having his own make up might be seen as a bit odd, do you think?

I'm torn between - feeling he should be his own person and if that means makeup and the occasional dress, then that's fine -and worrying that I should be doing more to make him 'normal', iyswim.

Don't let him use your old mascara apparently it can give eye infections.

(I speak as someone who doesn't own a mascara under 3 years old)

Seriously though, I think it is probably best if I do let him get his own, since he has enjoyed wearing makeup etc for several years now* and is probably not going to change
