only 2 days locally
schools are setting work from what i can see

hippipotamiHasLost77lbs · 08/01/2010 20:27

uhm, it is another 5 weeks until half term. That is quite a bit of time, especially for the little ones.
If they don't have half term and go straight through until the Easter holiday then they will go 12 weeks without a break. Too much surely, especially for primary school children?

southeastastra · 08/01/2010 20:28

they only missed two days here, anyway lots of activites already planned for half term. would be very expensive if they were cancelled!

hippipotamiHasLost77lbs · 08/01/2010 20:28

Yup, we went back to school today, so the children only had 2 days off for the snow. Therefore I see no reason for them to not have half term.

overmydeadbody · 08/01/2010 20:30

That's a ridiculous suggestion.

It's still 5 weeks away, and the staff deserve a break too. And where would the money come from to pay all the support staff to work that extra week?

MiladyDeWinter · 08/01/2010 20:41

A few days playing in the snow isn't going to make them lose the ability to use a key skill such as omission apostrophe is it?

Even if it did, it wouldn't hinder them much as I'm sure you'd agree.

dustycups · 08/01/2010 20:46

its just we have had 3 days of already round here and r suggesting that we prob wont get them back in monday either. yeah i get your point about the kids getting tired but it just seems that they are off school so much.
