This company I ordered a a pair of Uggs at the end of December and was concerned that they hadn't arrived, but on checking my bank statement it seems a company called WWW.BOOTSALE-UK.COM took the money, an obviously foreign company.

I should have spotted the customer services email address was a gmail account

I buy everything off the internet, can't remember the last time I went into a bank or electrical shop, so to be burnt once in all those years I suppose is not too bad. I can only blame my "post-Christmas shopping for a bargain hysteria" for not checking out the website properly!

That company you linked has an aussie website address, therefore "foreign". What delivery estimate did they give you? It is fishy that the address was a gmail one. How did you pay? if by paypal you may be able to get it back.

skihorse · 08/01/2010 14:43

According to this website who.is/whois/uggsale.com.au/ the site is based in China - so yep, they're fakes. But it could just be a "delayed in post" thing.

RedTartanLass · 08/01/2010 14:43

Yes just checked the whois website and it is a Chinese company. What an idiot!!!! Well can kiss those Ugg bye bye their in customs now, thanks for link Pikelit. Oh dear - how much did you pay OP?

cheapskatemum · 08/01/2010 21:26

I sympathise. I've just been duped by a phone company telling me my contract was up & would I like a super-dooper new one: new phone, trillions of minutes, unlimited landline calls & unlimited texts. Assumed it was Carphone Warehouse (never assume!), accepted offer. Now have new phone & don't even like it. My old contract doesn't finish till JUNE. To make things worse, I've now lost the scrappy piece of paper sales invoice that came with it, so can't send the stupid thing back because I no longer have the shyster company's address. Go Mobile in Swansea, anyone know it?

expatinscotland · 08/01/2010 21:29

Red, sell your sovies to one of those cash for gold places and get you some real Uggs .

RedTartanLass · 09/01/2010 19:04

Buying them from a Chinese website is a big clue.
