Bras

I am sure most of you have seen the FB thing about posting bra colour and it made me think about a friend of mine whose newish boyfriend chucked her because he was grossed out at her 'bra habits' She knew she would be staying over night at his house after going out so she slung a spare pair of knickers and some facewash into her handbag before meeting him in town. The next morning she got showered, put her clean knickers on and everything else from the night before. He was HORRIFIED that she put a bra back on that she had been wearing previously.

Now - I will wear a bra for 2 - 4 times before washing it. Well, usually only once now as climate here is so hot and sweaty but AIBU to think that it is acceptable to wear a bra more than once before washing?

You see for me it has to be a clean bra every day. I have fairly big boobs and they do get a bit sweaty and all that deodorant too - so def a new bra every day for me

I'm a couple of days person despite my gigatic bosom. I tend to buy 10 or so on Marks or Asda or Tesco when we are back in England. He WBU.

A bra always lasts me a couple of days - when I buy lingerie I always buy three knickers for each bra

turtle23 · 08/01/2010 06:47

If I remember back to the days when my bras didn't have pads in them(2 years or so now)...I wore them for a few days. At the moment I am lucky if it lasts me til lunchtime due to milk leakage. (But I'm hoping it will calm down soon...)

SnotBaby · 08/01/2010 06:50

3 knickers per bra here, too

Even good bras don't stand up to too much washing IME.

Excl. BFing at the mo though, so currently can be 2 clean bras per pair of knickers if we're having a bad day with reflux (this delicate flower of a boyfriend in the OP would have a fainting fit if he saw some of mine!)

I used to sell bras for a living. You should only wear them once before washing them in the gentle cycle of your machine (or hand washing) in a lingerie bag (to protect your machine in case the underwire comes out) and then hanging them up to dry.

Sweat is very bad for the elastic so it needs to be cleaned after every use.

Do this and they will last practically forever.

stickylittlefingers · 08/01/2010 07:34

that's interesting Tee2072 - looks like I am justified a visit to Bravissimo then! I must admit I do like my bra and knickers to match...

Tee2072 · 08/01/2010 07:36

Absolutely stickylittlefingers. Pay for quality and treat it well and you will never be let down (heh) by your bra!

stickylittlefingers · 08/01/2010 07:39

tee hee - there's a long way to fall as well (sorry tia!!)

Bras in the washing machine??

In Winter, I wear mine 2 or 3 times before washing. If the OP's friend's BF wants to be so prescriptive, he should offer to do his GF's laundry for them.

nancydrewrocks · 08/01/2010 08:26

I never put my bras in the washing machine - that is why I have to wear them 3 times. Can't be doing with handwashing 7 bras a week!

maxybrown · 08/01/2010 08:33

I wear mine more than once before washing, my current bras cost almost £40 a piece so can't afford many!! They bloody well work though

Haggisfish · 08/01/2010 08:39

Oh my god - I wear mine many, many times before washing - at least for ten days! Clearly I am just a minger. I do only have tiny breasticles though, so half the time they don't even tuch the bra.

Haggisfish · 08/01/2010 08:39

'touch'

I also wear them twice, sometimes three times when I've got behind washing them.

I had my wrist slapped by a lovely fitter in Peter Jones years ago, and have always handwashed since then.

I find they shrink a tiny bit and are more comfy on the second day.

(Not on FB, so no idea what the OP was referring to.)

Depends on the weather!
Everyday when it´s hot, 2/3 days when it´s not!
