I'm told that some of them actually (whispers) dare to wear (gasp) TROUSERS too.

CaptainUnderpants · 07/01/2010 21:11

tethersend · 07/01/2010 21:18

"we make the lessons up in the car drive in."

What utter rubbish- I have never done this in my life.

I get the tube.

lowenergylightbulb · 07/01/2010 21:19

tethersend, if you were a proper teacher you'd live in your stock cupboard.

LaurieFairyCake · 07/01/2010 21:20

oh yes and they're very repressed sexually, that's why they're all bitches

even the men

and all PE teachers are lezzers

even the men

Wonderstuff · 07/01/2010 21:21

I actually had a parent telling me how her child (who rarely came to school anyway) was well behaved and didn't take drugs - until she started at our school - them teachers you see we encourage them to skive school and take drugs

echt · 07/01/2010 21:21

Come on; who hasn't felt the thrill of the adrenalin rush of making up a lesson when your hand's on the handle of the classroom door?

JaneiteIsAWimpyTeacher · 07/01/2010 21:23

Echt. I was being observed once and realised as soon as I started speaking that I'd left ALL of my resources in the staffroom. Had to totally blag the lesson.

Hey, I live on the edge.

Wonderstuff · 07/01/2010 21:24

Why plan that far in advance?

tethersend · 07/01/2010 21:40

echt, I have started the sentence "Today we are going to..." without knowing how I was going to finish it. More than once.

I also use the old "I'm waiting for silence" to buy me precious extra seconds whilst I silently plan the lesson.

tethersend · 07/01/2010 21:43

Oh, and you can't beat "What do you think we're doing this lesson?"

"Yes, well done. That's exactly what we're doing today."

Everyone wins. Apart from maybe the National Curriculum.

Teachers are paid too much!

----------------

I'm fed up with teachers and their hefty salary guides! What we need is a little perspective.

If I had my way, I'd pay these teachers myself I'd pay them babysitting wages. That's right instead of paying these outrageous taxes, I'd give them $3.00 an hour out of my own pocket. And I'm only going to pay them for 5 hours, not coffee breaks. That would be $15.00 a day -- each parent should pay $15.00 a day for these teachers to babysit a child. (Even if you have more than one child, it's still a lot cheaper than private day care.)

Now, how many children do they teach every day maybe twenty? That's $15.00 X 20 = $300 a day. But remember they only work 180 days a year! I'm not going to pay them for all those vacations! That's $300 X 180 =$54,000. (Just a minute that can't be right; let me check my calculator.)

I know what you teachers will say What about those who have ten years experience and a Master's degree? Well, maybe (to be fair) they could get the minimum wage instead of just babysitting, they could read the kids a story.

We can round that off to about $5.00 an hour, times five hours, times twenty children. That's $500 a day times 180 days. That's $90,000 ..... HUH??

Wait a minute; let's get a little perspective here! Babysitting wages are too good for these teachers. Does anyone see a salary guide around here?

BoneyBackJefferson · 07/01/2010 21:52

not my work.
I've just always wanted to post it

Oooh BoneyBackJefferson - can we go one further and charge even when the child doesn't turn up because mum took one look at the snow and decided not to bother? Or when they decide Christmas shopping is a better way of educating their child. Or for parental holidays and bank holidays because as my child care provider quotes 'Ofsted say you get paid for Bank Holidays so I should too and I charge you an average daily rate even though I don't have your child! Also as you have your child in your holidays you should still pay me.'

mummyofexcitedprincesses · 07/01/2010 22:25

As an NQT I am both and by this thread. The thing is, I don't think some of you are joking (Tethersend) but I like your style!

Oh, and I am only in it for the holidays too.

Goblinchild · 07/01/2010 22:32

Teachers in Primary are deceitful cheats because they listen to the eulogies and let her show her portfolio at show-and-tell and agree about my child's geniosnosity and my child still didn't get the part.
And then they say, yes, she's on the reserve list.
And then you find out that all the other ordinary children are on the same list.
And they don't even go to drama classes, unlike my little princess.

BoneyBackJefferson · 07/01/2010 22:34

heartmoonshadow

I don't see why not

weegiemum · 07/01/2010 22:34

.... I only teach colouring in anyway....

(was am a Geography teacher)

piscesmoon · 07/01/2010 22:38

They are obviously crap, because when the LEA says that all schools are to close, due to snow, they don't mutiny and insist on the caretaker opening up. They don't arrive at school with camp beds and sleeping bags having arranged childcare for their own DCs who are off school. Above all they are inconsiderate enough to live more than 3 miles away from the school.

Wonderstuff · 07/01/2010 22:38

Gas shortage and here I am with my heating on - even considering leaving it on tonight - bloody -8 in Hampshire - are we entering a new ice age?

Goblinchild · 07/01/2010 22:41

'Insist on the caretaker opening up'

Ha! Busted pisces, you can't be a real teacher. Leave the thread, anyone worth the name would know that you can't insist on anything from the caretaker or dreadful consequences will ensue.
The real power behind the flimflam.
