create viruses for fun and unleash them on computer users.

I am so very annoyed that after going back to work from Maternity that I have used my work laptop which has been sat in a safe at work and ended up with a virus on my stick and therefore instead of doing 10-15 minutes of work this evening to finish a project off I have spent over 3 hours cleaning up my damn computer because of a virus from work! And the project has disappeared so that is work at the weekend for me,

I have had to let DH look after my DS whilst I sort the problem out and I have missed out oon valuable time all because the ICT guy at wwork has missed this problem!

My Anti virus software picked it up but was unable to delete for some unknown reason so I have spent time looking for a way of getting rid I am sooooooooo p**d off! DS is now asleep so I will not see him properly until tomorrow now.

AIBU to hate computer geeks?

"AIBU to hate computer geeks?" depends, do you like having a laptop, an operating system, a stick and the internet?

There are some people that think many viruses are created by the anti-virus companies themselves. Kind of like paying fireman according to how many fires they put out...

YANBU. It sucks.

If it's any consolation, long-term, it forces Microsoft to fix the problems with their shoddy software.

An analogy is a car with its doors unlocked and the key in the ignition. It WILL get stolen.

In the same way, any security hole in popular software will get exploited. Even more so now that it's not just about bragging rights for the hackers - with the growth in online shopping, stealing credit numbers and passwords for online accounts can be really lucrative.
