aww cupacake, i can imagine you must be really worried.
why not take him out of school for the rest of the week to allow him to recover fully?

my ds1 always loses weight when ill, he just stops eating, so i know how worried you must be. what works for us now is complan! i have, before now, had to get a medicine syringe and just make a game of it to get some into him, very slowly

it seems like once he has had a couple of glasses of it it helps get his strength back a bit and then he feels a bit better and more up to eating proper food.

Hi
my daughter was ill earlier this year and lost alot of weight, she also stopped growing height wise etc for months. I know it is awful, especially when they just seem so defenceless, my little girl just used to lie on the couch saying "can you help me sit up?" it was heartbreaking

BUT now she has put on two pounds in the last two months AND grown 2 cms, she eats about 5 times as much as she was and hasnt been sick for a couple of months at all AND today she was discharged from the consultant at the hospital!!

It sounds like you and your little boy have had a hard time all around but I am sure once things have settled into a routine you will both be feelign much better.

they do get better

Sounds tough but fwiw all my dcs lose weight when ill, esp with tummy bugs and although they look so tiny and fragile and are often emotionally fragile as a result, they do build themselves back up again even though they look wretched and skinny with sunken eyes for a while until back to 100%!
Minadex is my solution. Not sure how much it does to help but IME it seems to aid recovery and keep strength up with the vitamins and iron.

you can buy complan from boots, chemists and most supermarkets with a pharmacy.

it's basically a food replacement drink. I normally buy the strawberry one for ds1 and make it up with full-fat milk (just a half sachet, not a full one) and then try and get him to drink as much as poss.
they have lots of calories, and vitamins and minerals in.

it just seems to kick-start him into getting badk some strength and eating more.
i would def think about keeping him off school though, it'll be wearing him out
