To expect Tesco to wait at least a fucking week before they start loading easter eggs onto their shelves??

Couldn't believe it today, in the "seasonal" aisle on one side they are taking down the mince pies and seasonal fare etc on the other loading fucking easter eggs/mini eggs/ cream eggs etc..

AIBU to expect to be able to shop for food for a least a week without being bombarded by the next overly commercialised religious festival???

Am I the only one who thinks this is ridiculous on a massive scale?!

yup. been on the shelves here since before new year.

Shops are always going to push us along to the next big event that will spend our money.

They are on the shelves but we don't have to buy them. If nobody bought them until, I dunno, a week before Easter, then shops would probably stop putting them out so early. Eventually.

well I suppose Easter is fairly early this year falling at the start of April. Lent starts on the 17th Feb..........

YABU. They do it every single year so you should be used to it by now. Don't go down the seasonal aisle if they offend you that much . I've never known anyone to make such a fuss about chocolate.

I live in Spain and the shops don't put their Christmas decorations up until well into December. And the Easter Eggs are very low-key and don't appear until a couple of weeks before Easter.

I do miss creme eggs, though.

i got some half price cream eggs today (co-op) YUM!

will buy easter eggs from tesco asap as ours cleared the shelves of them two days before easter!

In fairness, I don't think there's ever actually a week when Sainsburys isn't selling hot cross buns.

I saw Creme Eggs in the local Co-op on the 31st Dec and just thought "Oh good". But full scale Easter Eggs is pushing it - wouldn't the chocolate be a bit manky by April?

I saw easter eggs being loaded onto shelves in my local Morrisons on 28 December....................!?!

although a lover of chocolate, we are as a nation excessive in having aisles after aisles of crisps, biscuits etc and with the best will in the world with them taking up so much room it is hard to drool and just pass them by and having "seasonal" items out way before we need too. It does not teach children anything apart from you can have what you want all year round. Makes it hard on us parents who care to say no, no so and so is not for another 4 months or whatever! totally supermarket madness and profit making. we should boycott totally. Where do all the "old" mince pies go that didn't make it off the shelves?

Surely the aisles should be full of heart shaped cakes and chocolates first.

27th December in my bloody tesco's!! I muttered loudly about bleaching my eyeballs and they could at least wait till twelfth night when most people take down their christmas decs....YADNBU

they had them in an easter egg hunt display next to the till at our tesco on dec 27th.

They also sell hot cross buns all yr round.

I nearly started a thread on this last night! Even the tesco express had easter eggs - WTF!!!! I mean, who on earth has the will power to keep chocolate in the house for that long?? Just plain weird but i guess they have to fill their shelves with something - annoying

YANBU at all(when I noticed this I then subjected por DS to a shopping trip with a ranty,muttering Mum "easter eggs in January...mutter,mutter...ridiculous...mutter.what ever happened to deferred gratification,mutter,mutter...."
Sad really,as someone said there are more important issues - but it is still very irritating!
But you creme egg lovers are ok - they are a "sweet" not an "easter egg",IMO,so you're allowed them now

YANBU I was in Morrisons on New Years Eve and there were easter eggs out already.

I assume it's because they all dedicate these aisles to "seasonal" stuff and then after Christmas have nothing else to put on them so get the easter stuff out early.

I do love creme eggs though.
