Thank you - verbal or letter/card?

I know similar questions have been asked before but this is slightly unusual. One of my children attends a sports club also attended by adults. One couple bought them 2 Christmas gifts "because we thought of you when we saw them". The gifts are extremely well chosen, I wish their relatives took such care. There is no tradition of giving each other gifts other than a "secret santa" type where you buy a present suitable for anyone so it was simply an act of kindness.

I feel that this merits either a thank you letter or at least a card rather than simple thnaks, especially from a not very verbal teenager.

yy letter or card

the givers sound lovely and generous

BoysAreLikeDogs · 04/01/2010 17:05

and worth cultivating

Jamieandhismagictorch · 04/01/2010 17:10

yes, I agree a letter is appropriate

pointydig · 04/01/2010 17:11

a card would be easier for a not very verbal teenager, no?

Coldhands · 04/01/2010 19:38

Yes, a card seems like a nice gesture after what they did.

Lapsedrunner · 04/01/2010 19:39

I agree, a card would be ideal.

lovechoc · 04/01/2010 19:42

IMO just say thanks, it's a bit more personal than a piece of paper with writing on it.

LittleSilver · 04/01/2010 20:01

Card/letter, verbal thanks would be just rude after that effort.

thank you. My teenager didn't quite agree but has been persuaded to go for the card, with an appropriate hand written message

Definatlely a card - people get so little personal mail these days like letters and things and everyone I know really appreciates the time and effort to do a card..

thanks - I was able to show the stroppy teen its not only their mother who thinks cards are good
