and plead with them to make Creamola Foam?

I can taste it now, and really fancy some. Every few months or so i crave it, raspberry flavour.
Does anyone know why it isn't around any more? Wasn't it really popular?

ImSoNotTelling · 04/01/2010 11:38

ImSoNotTelling · 04/01/2010 11:39

Phew just finished reading the whole sentence branston pickle is fine...

pigletmania · 04/01/2010 11:39

I am lucky that i have a co op at the end of my road so buy my meat there and tea and coffee, fair trade, i think that their practises are good, i am a member of it too. I was a bit my dh went to Asda to do the shopping and bought un free range eggs and chicken, i am just using them up on him as he bought them lol

BelleDameSansMerci · 04/01/2010 11:39

WickedWitch, the truly frightening thing is how many major corporations that we buy from are using child slave labour. It's not just Nestle.

This report from Unicef: www.unicef.org.uk/publications/pdf/ecechild2_a4.pdf gives more info.

differentID · 04/01/2010 11:39

Piglet- I noticed how much smaller my shopping bill got when we cut nestle out.

Plus have you noticed Nestle seems to be the confectionery/ cereals brand that does the most advertising? Or is it just I've become so senstised to the name I spot it instinctively? anyone else found this?

pigletmania · 04/01/2010 11:40

Made up wise i am a bit of a designer junkie like Dior and Chanel hope they are not on the list.

pigletmania · 04/01/2010 11:42

Yes i immediately thought of cereals, coffee and foodstuffs really, not make up and Body shop not that i buy from Body shop as they are too expensive and i have eczema and need Oilatum stuff hope they are not on because they are a life saver, what about Nivia as i use their shower gel too because it suits my skin.

ImSoNotTelling · 04/01/2010 11:43

How would I find out who makes the own brand stuff at my supermarket i wonder? I expect it is a closely guarded secret.

Luckily we don't get any of the things on the list, which is maybe why I have trouble actively remembering to boycott IYSWIM.

I have much more trouble at the fish counter!

Thanks for the link belle will have a read.

ImSoNotTelling · 04/01/2010 11:45

Have a look at weegiemum's link earlier on piglet, the list isn't as long as I was dreading it might be!

pigletmania · 04/01/2010 11:45

I tend to like Keloggs cerals the best especially Start. When i thought about the Nestle Boycotte i thought formula and thought whats wrong twith that, but it is very expensive and so people go without to afford it and preparing it requires a lot of care and to sterlise with boiled water.

MegSophandEmma · 04/01/2010 11:49

Now Co ops Chocolate mmmm mmm... I love there fruit and nut Choc.

pigletmania · 04/01/2010 11:50

Thanks Boys i do like to keep and open mind and not be too closed. I read the list of Weegi, Jelly Tots and Tooti Frooties thought that it was Rowntrees i love Jelly tots. Its not really a biggi as most of those products listed i dont buy anyway.

pigletmania · 04/01/2010 11:52

I bought some co op dark chocolate to make this Maltese chocolate drink my dh loves and eneded up eating it yummmmmy

BelleDameSansMerci · 04/01/2010 11:53

Unfortunately, other companies who allegedly use child labour include Coca Cola, Mattel, Fisher Price, Disney, Gap, McDonalds, Wal-Mart (who own Asda), Primark, etc, etc.

I am not an expert though and I'm only repeating what I've read elsewhere.

I'm a fan of premium make up brands too but they're mostly owned by very large corporates now and I doubt they're exempt from this. It's very hard to avoid all products that use exploited children in their manufacture.

BelleDameSansMerci · 04/01/2010 11:55

And sorry if I sound like I'm on a soap-box - I'm really not. I use just the same products as everyone else and I adore After Eights...

ImSoNotTelling · 04/01/2010 11:57

In general it seems to be the global brands that go around acting like arseholes, Nestle's attitude is very similar to that of the tobacco companies in the old days. Selling something that kills thousands and turning a blind eye/denying the link. I try and stick to unbranded or smaller brand names, the big brand stuff is more expensive anyway.

It's so difficult though - take clothing for example - to tell which has been made with child labour and which is OK without going down the super-expensive niche route. As more expensive stuff is often made with eg child labour, as much as the cheap stuff, I think.

I suppose trying to buy stuff made in the UK would do it - but nothing is. And that in itself sounds like the sort of thing a BNP symathiser would say, it's all so complicated.

WickedWitchSouthWest · 04/01/2010 11:57

thanks for the link Belle, I'm going to sit and have a proper read later. I can't believe how blind I've been to this issue before. I guess it's so far removed from our cushy lives and so well hidden but the corporates Very sad.

pigletmania · 04/01/2010 11:57

Yes it is belle i am shock, so will try my best to avoid most especially the Nestle ones. If your on a tight budget you tend to buy from cheap places such as Primark. I have fisher price and Matel and Disney obviously wont be raiding dds toys stash and will still buy from these companies as dd loves the toys.

BelleDameSansMerci · 04/01/2010 11:59

ImSoNotTelling, even buying stuff made in the UK doesn't guarantee it wasn't made by children. It's bloody impossible unless you make your own clothes I think! The ethical brands are very expensive and, let's be realistic, not everyone can afford to shop ethically all the time.

BelleDameSansMerci · 04/01/2010 12:01

Piglet, I'm just the same. It's so hard.
