to be annoyed with my friends who bring their staving hungry kids to parties?

Over this Xmas period I have held a couple of evening get-togethers for a few of my friends and all our children. However, I have noticed that a couple of my friends will always bring their children along ravenously hungry. These children will within 30 minutes to an hour of arriving, will be constantly pestering me in the kitchen for food - demanding to know where the food is. (I usually serve food approx 1 - 1.5 hours of arrival time and there is always plenty of food to go around.) One friend of mine, admitted that when there is a party she will be quite happy to skip the children's tea - which would explain why her children would be ravenous by the evening.
So, ABIU to
a) find the children's behavior irritating and rude
b) to be annoyed with their parents too?

My first post!
Just want to say, hello! And to add, you ladies are very entertaining. Love your advice and sense of humour! I won't join in often, I am Canadian, and I am terrified I may say "cookie" or something!
(I read the post about the fake American accents with some of your children )

OP, anticipate the needs of your guests, and you should be ok. Appetizers and drinks ready for their arrival. If you are unorganized (like me) perhaps consider buying some ready made fruit and veggie trays to put out as you are preparing the main food?

gta - Canadians can say real Canadian words and phrases, especially if employing those wonderful Canadian dipthongs .

It's just British kids using Americanisms we object to.

But I know Canadian Childhood fell the the Kraft Dinner many decades ago

Wrong thread Blu?

thesecondcoming my children eat supper at 7/7.30 (and according to the OP she would have invited them over at 6/6.30, so very much supper range for most children). Unless you are thinking of really small children? But then if you are inviting families with children you surely aren't going to feed adults and not children? That would seem very unreasonable. If we're talking toddlers then they would be in bed with a babysitter surely?

The OP seems to have disappeared in any case.

If I had to wait an hour and a half for food at a party I'd have left before it's even arrived. Gone to McDonald's instead.
