to expect that a £55 toy garage from ELC should have all the correct parts?!

I am so at the ELC. I bought a toy garage from them for my DS's christmas present and there is a piece missing! They have included a duplicate piece of another part instead but the bit where the petrol pumps attach onto is missing so we have no petrol station .

It cost £55 so by no means cheap! I checked their website and they are saying that if there are missing parts I need to send the whole garage back!!!!! Which won't work cos the packaging is in the bin, there is no way I would attempt to get it back to the shop and DS would miss it if it was sent away to be replaced. I am so angry- I emailed them about it but then my message wouldn't send which has pissed me off even more.

AIBU to be pissed off?????????!!!!!!!

Has anyone else been in a similar situation and did you manage to get the missing bit?

You are right to be but these things do happen.

Call your local ELC explain situation and make sure they have it in stock - take it in and they'll probably just give you a brand new one on the spot, they are normally reasonable.

DS had a fire engine and after a few weeks somethime was spiking out of it - didn't have box or receipt and we took it in and they changed it on the spot.

My sister bought a kitchen from them that was missing a part also for xmas a couple of years ago and they agreed just to send a whole new one without posting back the old one.

OH MY GOD
THIS IS THE END OF THE WORLD

TipsyFairydifferentID · 26/12/2009 21:11

What the heck do you expect them to do if you won't bring the ruddy thing back?

to answer your question, Yes you are being unreasonable.

The same thing happened to me! Same part as well! Luckily, I put it together on Wednesday, so could rectify it. I called the ELC store I bought it from, and they told me I can take the whole thing to any store with receipt and get it exchanged.

Not wanting to disassemble the whole thing, on Christmas Eve I took the extra part to the nearest ELC to me (not the one I bought it from)and they exchanged it without any qualms. The woman in the ELC shop opened a new box right in front of me and took the needed part out. She said they'd just send the opened box back and claim I retruned the whole thing. It isn't exactly rocket science is it!

Hope you manage to get it exchanged as easily as I did.

Take it back, explain to them the situation, be firm but polite, and say taht you threw away the packaging as you did not expect this to happen and as for a refund or another garage. Gosh £55 for a garage, my Fisher priceone was about £20 for dd.

YANBU, to have to take that garage back (I have been looking at that one for DS later on) would be a bloody pain as it is huge.

Also, is it worth the money? I was looking at it in the shop today and it looked a bit flimsy for the amount that it costs. It is the best garage I have seen but I didn't think the quality was up to much tbh. There were bits of the ramps that didn't quite fit etc.
