I think I probably am being a bit scroogey. But its not lasting a moment after the 29th I tell you.

All my decorations are away. New Year has to start with a tidy house as if it's a mess on the 1st it'll stay a mess all year. Thank you mother for passing on that superstition!!

whomovedmychocolate · 30/12/2009 08:20

Mine came down on the 27th and good bloody riddance (I found chocolates underneath it that had been forgotten and can now vacuum the floor properly. The house looks so much bigger now they are gone.

The cards are next - but I have to wait till the DCs are in bed.

They didn't even notice the trees had vanished from their rooms (nor did DH).

I put mine up at the end of November though, I had a while to get fed up of it

missorinoco · 30/12/2009 12:07

I put mine up early and it's staying up until after New Year. I love them.

Technically this is sitting number two though, as DS has already pulled it down once.

RockBird · 30/12/2009 12:12

Mine's coming down tomorrow. I hate new year and find it really depressing and the tree just reminds me of all the festivities so I'd rather be rid. Will keep my lights in the window though, I love those

blondiep14 · 30/12/2009 12:16

We took ours down on the 28th!! It had only been up a week and a bit so wasn't very cost effective this year.
DP jumped at the chance to get rid of it when I suggested it.
It takes up too much room in our house and DS kept pulling everything off it, being enormously pregnant it was a PITA keep bending down to pick up loose candy canes and baubles.
I think next year we won't get away so lightly as DS will be older and more into the whole thing!

shivster1980 · 30/12/2009 12:23

Mine has gone today I have kept my crib though until Epiphany (6th Jan). It is my late fathers 64th birthday today and I needed displacement activity. Hoovered the lounge to within an inch of its life too.

johnworf · 30/12/2009 14:11

I've taken the tree down today as the first two rows of branches were bare anyway. 19 month old kept taking the baubles off and eating them and I was sick of telling her to stop shaking it.

Will take it this weekend to have it munched up in the munching machine in the local park.

For me, christmas has been and gone and now want to start the new year with a clean and tidy house

essexgirl31 · 30/12/2009 17:14

Mine came down on the 28th. DH not impressed.

House then cleaned and DS1's new toys sorted out. Mentally I'm free again

PurpleEglu · 30/12/2009 20:48

I'm taking my tree down tomorrow, and now I don't feel bad about it after reading this thread

zippy539 · 30/12/2009 22:15

Dh took binned the Christmas cards on Boxing Day which was a bit previous even for a bah-humbug like me. Christmas tree comes down tomorrow - it's too depressing to see it still lingering into the New Year.

hohohojollster · 31/12/2009 10:30

ummm hello people.... TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS ANYONE?? Christmastide? Twelth Night...? The Epiphany?
Does this mean nothing????

Don't put them up so bleeding early. Or for you really miserable buggers, don't put them up at all.

Bloody ridiculous

Drusilla · 31/12/2009 10:41

Mine came down this morning, house lovely and clean and dusted. Twelth night and epiphany do mean nothing to me Actually I really find it quite depressing looking at a christmas tree after new year.
