he has disapeared with my car to get a few last minute things. He has just rung from his mothers (30 minutes away) to tell me he is doing some wrapping.

We have to be in church at 2.30 for nativity.

Special christmas eve lunch is supposed to be at 1. He is cooking it. everything has to be cooked and eaten by 2 at the latest.

I have some pressies to deliver so need my car now.

And he has taken the bloody paper with him.

Every bloody year he does this. Leaves stuff till last minute then screws up my last minute plans with his own incompetence.

now my timings are all messed up. I can't see him reappearing until 1.30ish. then i have to quickly wrap and deliver localish pressies. missing lunch.

and why does he have to take my car?

Well, it's not the end of the world. Maybe you could have the meal later? Have something light now and eat when you get back?

Same with pressies. Drop them later.

It is daft to leave things to the last minute I agree, but it's christmas eve. Goodwill to all men (even daft ones ) and all that.

Has he taken his own car keys with him? if not use his car to do your errands.

pagwatch · 24/12/2009 12:38

Gloria
I used to get annoyed that christmas eve would be spent with me downstairs and DH upstairs wrapping, punctuated by appearing to ask me for errr.. wrapping paper and then 20 mins later ...err ...sellotape

You need to be more organized.
Decide between you a week before christmas upon an evening when he is at home and you are there too. Get him paper etc and shut him in a room. Don't let him come out until he has done it.

Don't leave it to him.

GloriaInEccentrica · 24/12/2009 12:40

my car though? why mine? and yes he has both sets of keys.

i may have to hold back one of his presents.

Is it snowing? Does your car go better on ice? Does it have more fuel?

Why don't you call him and ask him?

And in future, keep your keys in your knickers on Christmas Eve.

GloriaInEccentrica · 24/12/2009 12:54

no. he's done it to rile me.

and i've just discovered last years dinner all over what i thought was my clean table cloth.

kinnies · 24/12/2009 12:59

Realy? Why would he want to rile you?

Can you call him and tell him to bring your car back?

Heqet · 24/12/2009 13:00

He wants to wind you up on Christmas eve? Are you sure?

Wash the cloth, take a deep breath and have a drink and a mince pie. All will be well.

pagwatch · 24/12/2009 13:02

I'm with Heqet. Have a calming moment...

Even if he is trying to wind you up. Don't let him.
Choose to have a nice day and not let it get to you.

Prinnie · 24/12/2009 13:09

Just have a massive glass of wine, relax and let the Christmas spirit take over!
