to be totally exhausted by Christmas?

I love Christmas, I really do, but this year I just feel worn out by the whole thing.
It is the first year my dd (5) has been really excited and as a result she has been a right little monster for days! That combined with very stressful job and various Xmas related late nights - panto, food shop, blah blah blah - has left me feeling tired, irritable and trying hard not to be a grinch!
Tell me I am not the only grumpy Mummy out there!!?

Yanbu.

I am pg and haven't got the energy for our 9 guests. Plus ds is 3 and HYPER!

Never mind Christmas Day, I'm bloody exhausted now. Just put DD (2.3) to bed (in my bed ) and if my parents weren't here I'd be in there with her!

YANBU. When I was younger, I couldn't understand why my mum spent the whole of December looking increasingly harrassed. "Isn't Christmas lovely?" I used to beam at her, irritatingly. Now I understand!

YANBU and agree with what JemL said!
even though I love Christmas I stress myself out so much.

Fayrazzled · 23/12/2009 20:12

I never thought I'd agree because I love Christmas too, but for the first time ever I'm worn out by it. My expectations for it are just too high and I can't meet them. I keep muttering to myself, "next year, it will all be different"...

christmasmum · 23/12/2009 20:20

Totally agree this year - am 35 weeks pg, husband has flu so we can't go to my MIL for lunch as she's having chemo, I'm snowed in and have been for last 5 days so have total cabin fever as does 2 year old DD. Am chugging Bach rescue remedy and hoping it will start to work soon.

Oh and my 'Christmas lunch' is going to be a chicken I've found lurking in the freezer and some old potatoes.

Woe is me!!

sb6699 · 23/12/2009 20:38

I love Christmas but it has been stressful this year. DH is self-employed and not had much work so lack of funds is really worrying me.

That coupled with home-sickness and the thought that the snow might mean I dont get to visit my family at all over the festive period is making me really

No doubt the DC's happy little faces when they see their prezzies on Christmas morning will make it all worthwhile.

MissMoopy · 23/12/2009 20:41

Selfish, but I am glad I am not alone in feeling like this!
sb6699, you are right, once I see her little happy face on Xmas morning it will all be worth it!
