Rellie had obviously been in training - new personal best of 1 minute 37. Nearest bet was seven minutes - way out.

Bloody hell!
That is impressive.

willow · 23/12/2009 19:13

Obviously set on 2012

What did the winner get?

willow · 23/12/2009 19:15

My respect.

GhoulsAreLoud · 23/12/2009 19:16

What was the comment?

warthog · 23/12/2009 19:16

what was the offending comment?

willow · 23/12/2009 19:17

Just some disparaging remark to one of us. Daren't give too much info - don't want to get caught out one day!

haha, are you in my family, sounds exactly like the bil!

willow · 23/12/2009 20:08

Not bil, so can't be. Actually, bet aside, it just makes me very sad that this person cannot find it in themselves to be nice. It impacts on everyone and there's just no need for it. Don't think they will ever change though, sadly.

YANBU. DH and I will probably bet on how long it takes his brother or SIL to make some kind of racist joke/comment.

Then we can bet on how long it will take PIL to start complaining about BIL/SIL's general fecklessness once they've left (I'm sneakily betting FIL will start the moaningin a whisperbefore they're even out the door).

doubleexpresso · 23/12/2009 20:46

MIL did a good one today. DH has taken day off work to drive to her house (100 miles each way) so he can visit relatives graves and take her shopping, as she can no longer drive and is having SIL etc for Christmas. She phoned me before he arrived, because it was a long journey saying, 'I don't know why he's bothering coming. I could have got x,y or z to do the shopping for me.' Bloody ungrateful.

snowedinwithJjandtheBean · 23/12/2009 21:58

willow sounds like there may be one in every family

BIL's favourite point of torment is my 2yo ds, he harrasses him non stop, stealing his taggie blanket and his hat for example, hes even gone to the extreme of going in at night and stealing his dummy (yes he shouldnt have it)
And then says ''all he does is whinge and cry, what a mardy arse, snowedins ds your a mardy arse'' ARGGGGH im sooo not looking forward to boxing day

doubleexpresso ring dh and say she doesnt need him and to come home, see how she feels then, ungrateful cow!

catsmother · 23/12/2009 22:10

Blimey Snowedin - how old's your BIL - 10 ??!

It's one thing having an old misery/stuck up bitch / grumbleweed in every family but your BIL sounds like he gets a rise out of being cruel to a baby who can't possibly defend himself.

Frankly, if I was in your shoes the next time this twunt tried anything of the sort I'd steal his bloody mobile / iPod / Blackberry / watch or whatever and accidentally-on-purpose drop the item in question, stamp on it for good measure and then see who the whingeing, crying, mardy arse is !

LynetteScavo · 23/12/2009 22:16

Jjandthebean - your BIL is a complete tosser!

snowedinwithJjandtheBean · 23/12/2009 22:30

hes 25, has 3 kids of his own and is an arse!

dd did drown his new 3g phone

hes the spoilt one in the outlaws so were told, you know what hes like!!!

lostinwales · 23/12/2009 22:36

I keep a mental list of things a certain relative says time after time which always upset me. In the run up to a visit I mentally sort said comments, grade them and award points, then when the inevitable comments come I can tick them off and award myself points. Works really well as instead of being upset or annoyed as I used to, I feel really happy awarding myself points. Have to say I feel sorry for the relly now, must be hard not to enjoy ANYTHING!

snowedinwithJjandtheBean · 24/12/2009 03:15

oh my family twat enjoys EVERYTHING, but who wouldnt when your allowed to do what ever you want.

I forgot his latest act of twatishness, At the pils there is two spare rooms and the pc room, we have one room, ds the other and dd as shes only 1 is settled in the pc room in the pram, he strolls in after an evening shift and plonks his arse down and searches very loud rock music on youtube turns it up and wanders toward the shower, of course both children wake and sob alot,

The response, my kids wouldnt wake, Dp calmly sayes, then maybe a hearing test?

He is an utter PITA.

Oh god please can everyone wish snow to the east so we cant possibly drive up north?

Mmmango · 24/12/2009 05:12

Thread has moved on, but op YABVVVVU.

Next time, name change and give us all the details, I want to know what that remark was. Also, did 7-minute person cheer? Did everyone snigger and have to try not to make eye contact?

cornishgal · 24/12/2009 12:39

This is brilliant guys, I love it.
Am going to organise mum's sweepstake now, as a visit from her is like being Ofsted-ed. I will give marks for general evilness and bitchery plus extra points for Criticism Dressed up as Concern, her absolute speciality, eg: "Have you wormed that poor cat lately, she looks awfully skinny. Here puss puss you poor thing aren't they feeding you?"

gingernutlover · 24/12/2009 12:48

oooh this is so much better than hunt the bloody thimble! I will make a secret bet with myself about how long it takes FIl tomorrow my prize will be the chocolate cheesecake ha ha (wonders if she can get away with being so "upset" as to retire to upstairs with said cheesecake?)

Kaloki · 24/12/2009 13:16

I so should have taken bets when my nan was alive, but it's ok though, I'm sure she's yelling insults from wherever she is right now.

Duritzfan · 24/12/2009 14:57

`Lol.. dh and I always have a bet on how long it will take my mum to comment on my weight ....
Last time I saw her it was within a minute - the very first thing she said to me !
