I find it v bizarre when people (usually women) go on about how she isn't that attractive really, too thin etc. Surely it is jealousy? Her face is literally perfect. Voice slightly annoying though.

OP posts:
ThumbleBells · 23/12/2009 16:26

oops, I should have put a grin in there MQ - it was a very tongue-in-cheek addition.

On a personal note, it didn't reflect too well on me - at least one "friend" kept saying I'd "turned him gay" until I threatened to punch her.

ImSoNotTelling · 23/12/2009 16:26

MQ what you said was "saying someone is too thin is like saying someone is too rich. It's normally not true and doesn't happen very often.
But then again I'm into thin in a big way." That was the entirety of your post.

You were not referencing KK or anyone else. You were simply saying that in your opinion women could not be too thin, that the thinner the better as far as you were concerned, and that in any case people who were seen as "too thin" rarely had anything wrong with them.

You are trying to move away from your original post to make it seem more reasonable. But it was not reasonable.

curryfreak · 23/12/2009 16:28

Have you got any daughters MQ. Have you ever told them that they could never be too thin?

ThumbleBells · 23/12/2009 16:29

ooh no, I disagree with you ImSoNotTelling! If he'd said "being too thin is like being too rich" I'd be with you like a shot, but he was talking about people saying it - a different thing altogether.

ImSoNotTelling · 23/12/2009 16:29

I could say that I liked my men muscular, the more muscular the better. I want huge pumped-up beefcake like arnie in the early days, the bigger the better.

Someone might point out to me that while some men can attain that muscle bulk naturally, most men struggle to attain the really big muscle size and resort to steroids. With disasterous consequences for their health and relationships, and of course it can (and does) kill them.

To which I would say, Whatever, I think they all all like that naturally, give me a list of the ones who use steroids and I will retract, I think it is all natural and so the bigger the better say I.

Would that be reasonable of me? No.

BalloonSlayer · 23/12/2009 16:34

It does bug me that women like Keira Knightley who have not had breast enlargements get called anorexic, when there are plenty of other actresses, such as your Jennifer Anistons and Courtney Coxes who dieted themselves to skeletons, yet due to the silicone breasts were somehow able to avoid such name-calling.

FWIW I was as thin as KK when I was a young woman, you could see my ribs and everything. At the age of 20 I weighed 7 stone while eating everything I wanted. There was nothing wrong with me at all. I was just a skinny minny. I still eat more than most women I know and am still considered slim by most people at age 45.

KK would be well-advised to dress for her build as do fatter people. That gold dress was awful - she is far too bony for it.

Bewler · 23/12/2009 16:34

ImSoNotTelling I made that point about 3 pages back but no-one had addressed it. Lets see if you get a bite....

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 23/12/2009 16:36

Jennifer Aniston does not have breast implants - nor does Courtney Cox!

ImSoNotTelling · 23/12/2009 16:38

bewler.

I think I'm going to leave this one. Am just a bit that bloke on MN (yes I know he's a reg) comes onto a thread to announce to the assembled women that his personal sexual preference is for very thin women (maybe TMI, but, whatever) and then goes on to make a totally ridiculous post.

Then rather than being a man about it and saying, hmm yes, maybe I didn't phrase that qiute right, of course i think women can be too thin, and anorexia is terrible, he goes on to defend his post at all costs. Pretty pathetic really. A bit like the original post.

curryfreak · 23/12/2009 16:46

That would be cos he's a tosser!

BalloonSlayer · 23/12/2009 16:46

I stand corrected kat!

I would love to know what diet they were both on then!

You know the one, it turns a lovely rounded, averagely busted young woman into an angular sinewy pointy thing with scarily veiny arms but much bigger breasts than she had before.

I have only dieted once in my life but my boobs definitely got smaller.

mayorquimby · 23/12/2009 16:49

actually I'm not trying to move away from it at all, but it was discussed at the time of posting it so i was trying to include the clarifications that followed it so as not to just repeat the same conversation again.
But it appears repitition of some of it's parts will be necessary. i was discussing when people say someone is too rich or too thin hence it's variation from the original quote which someone posted above which is a definitive "you can never be too rich or too thin."

"Have you got any daughters MQ. Have you ever told them that they could never be too thin?"

i don't have daughters. Well firstly i have never said that once on this thread. I've said i prefer naturally thin women never once have i said a woman can never be too skinny,in fact i already discussed the facts that obviously being thin to the point where it affects your health would be wrong.
As for wether or not i would discuss what i did say so far, that i like naturally thin women, i'm not sure. But then again why would i discuss any sexual preference with my children. If you had a short son would you tell them you like tall men?what about if you had a skinny son would you discuss a preference for muscly guys?i think it's patently obvious if i thought it would affect my childs confidence i wouldn't say suach a thing.

"could say that I liked my men muscular, the more muscular the better. I want huge pumped-up beefcake like arnie in the early days, the bigger the better.

well first of all i never said i think that all skinny women are naturally skinny. quite the opposite i said i did not know. Also i said that i would never advocate someone trying to be as skinny as KK if their natural shape was something different as it's patently unhealthy. so on those points you would be unreasonable had you done so,but fortunately i did not.
And if we were on a thread discussing a specific celebrity who was beefed up and you said "i like men with xyz's type of body" and i came on hell for leather about steroid abuse and claimed you said all muscly guys were naturally so and there was no such thing as steroid abuse. etc and you replied "well no i made it quite clear that i like naturally mucscly guys and would never advocate steroid use.where did i claim that anybodies use of steroids was a good thing and i'll apologise"
then yes i would find that reasonable

lowenergylightbulb · 23/12/2009 16:58

I think that (a) she looks lovely and (b) you could imagine having a good laugh with her down the boozer.

When I was a 20 something with no kids I was that thin with no bloody effort on my part. Some people are like that.

Now in my ahem thirties after a batch of kids I'm a size 10, I'd have to starve myself to be that skinny again - which would be grim and I'm too old now to 'do' skinny..

I loved her in Atonement, and in the TV version of Dr Zhivago. She's a much more talented actress than Kate Winslet. Give KK another 10 years and she'll be in the 'Dame' league.or so

lowenergylightbulb · 23/12/2009 17:00

I don't know why I have a random 'or so' at the end of my post!!!

mayorquimby · 23/12/2009 17:01

"I think I'm going to leave this one. Am just a bit that bloke on MN (yes I know he's a reg) comes onto a thread to announce to the assembled women that his personal sexual preference is for very thin women (maybe TMI, but, whatever) and then goes on to make a totally ridiculous post.

I've said a numerous times that women can be too skinny and anyone being so skinny as to effect their health is bad thing. If you choose to ignore it and posts which clarified my posts, not because the post itself was misleading but because it was misread by many, then there's nothing i can do about it.
If your confused by my posts then once again nothing i can do. It's a thread started by someone saying KK is beautiful and the first replies are presumably from women, which you obviously deem acceptable, saying negative things about her weight and appearance amongst which are calling her a boy and one tongue in cheek "alien" comment. I on the other hand praised her appearance and after numerous posts once again slagging her off for being thin clarified my position in that perhaps my opinion on her was skewed because i'm attracted to thin women.
My "totally ridiculous post" as you call it i feel was actually quite apt because it was in the midst of a lot of people judging and saying that someone is too thin/unhealthily thin when to me it's clear she is not.

But perhaps it's best you did leave it because if as you say my gender is a problem for you in this debate there's nothing i can do about that. I'd be worried though if you would happily debate this with a woman but feel that my views are somehow tainted by gender.

lowenergylightbulb · 23/12/2009 17:05

Leave MQ alone FFS, he might be a mere man (lol!!) but he is entitled to his opinion.

mayorquimby · 23/12/2009 17:09

Exactly did none of you hear about the suffregettes and what they went through to get me the vote and the right to voice my opinion?

lowenergylightbulb · 23/12/2009 17:18

Yes, exactly... that's why the Pankhursts mobilised women everywhere, for mere men to be able to comment about fit birds without slings and arrows being cast upon them

Now back to Keira, she's very elegant isn't she, and she makes smoking look really cool....

2kidzandi · 23/12/2009 17:19

"She's a much more talented actress than Kate Winslet."

Are you kidding?

ThumbleBells · 23/12/2009 17:20

no one makes smoking look cool... it ain't.

Vintagepommery · 23/12/2009 17:24

Not perfect literally or otherwise. Emily Blunt (for eg) prettier IMO

lowenergylightbulb · 23/12/2009 17:25

Kate Winslet is a dreadful actress!! She has no emotional range.

lowenergylightbulb · 23/12/2009 17:26

And, smoking is actually dead cool. Done when wearing 1940's clothes, make up and looking all tragic...

mayorquimby · 23/12/2009 17:28

james dean disagrees
