To be irrationally annoyed at knowing the result of Strictly?

I'm away staying with the in-laws and I set the DVD to record Strictly. I avoided the Strictly threads, and BBC News online. I was looking forward to some spangly escapism when I got home.

Then yesterday I was reading the New Straits Times and there was a full page spread on the winners. I'm peeved, I can't believe anyone in Malaysia is even interested the result.

Admittedly this is only the tip of my fury. I don't like the weather here and my mil drives me nuts, but I can't do anything about either of those so I'm venting my spleen on the bloody New Straits Times.

Sympathy please, as a reward I might even tell you some of my mil's irritating little habits.

Glad you think so. I've asked around and, so far, nobody here has even heard of SCD so there was no reason for it to be in the newspaper. I think the NSD buys in quite a bit of content from other newspapers around the world as it's cheaper than paying reporters'/column writers' wages.

Anyway, as promised, MIL's top two irritating habits

  1. She has a 3 bedroom bungalow but has insisted on giving us her room and one guest room and moving into the other guest room herself when we would actually prefer to be in the two guest rooms (we have told her this). She then tells everyone that she meets that she has given up her room for us in a very martyred way, "I don't mind the discomfort lah!" making us look like selfish bastards.
  1. She hasn't taken stuff that she needs from her room (that we are using) and just walks in all the time, it doesn't matter whether the kids are sleeping or we are getting dressed. There's a button-lock on the door handle, but if I lock it she just goes off and gets the keys.

I should do a thread just about her when I get home, it would be very cathartic.

Oh dear, YANBU.

Have a merry Christmas, despite MIL's martyr status (sounds like she enjoys it!)
