to struggly understanding DPs assignment.....

i feel really bad this morning as last night DP finished his first assignment for his HNC and read out his conclusion to me.

but (in my defence...) it was about midnight and i tried really hard to concentrate but there was a couple of big words in the first sentance and i kind of zoned out iykwim

once he finished reading it i kind of just went sounds good and went back to the tv,

this morning he phoned his mum as soon as he woke up and then email her the assignment for her to look at.

i really wish i could have helped him but i felt overwelmed with words i didnt understand so couldnt really help him,

then tell him so!! no point faking it for now and every future assignment is there?

Maybe you could ask if you can read it? listening to technical stuff read out loud can be very difficult to follow.

Was just about to say the same thing, Tizzyjacko! Give him a time limit for how long you will take - DH asks me to read over reports for him, I usually take a couple of hours so I can go back and reread the bits that I don't understand first time round, then we discuss it. I'd really struggle if he read it to me.

And then you make positive comments about the bits you do understand and ask intelligent qustions about the bits you don't. Most people love to talk about what interests them and I'm sure he'd be happy to explain
